Goncalves should be Villa’s primary target alongside
another striker and possible another right back and the
reasons for this are made very clear just by looking at

His technical ability on the ball, especially inside the
penalty area is considered and he can use both feet but
is predominantly right footed. His style is to receive the
ball either centrally or wide left and either play a neat
pass out into space and continue his run into the box or
if on the left, cut inside and play a reverse pass to a
runner into the box. He is used to playing as one of two
no. 10’s behind a central striker so his versatility in also
being able to play wide left is invaluable. He is also a
