Aston Villa Recruitment Plan 2022-2023

Introduction
The main purpose of this document is to firstly detail and assess the current 2023 Aston Villa squad and then
secondly identify and recommend, by using a data driven approach, possible transfer targets that will
enhance the squad for the 2023-2024 English Premier League season and taking inti consideration the extra
games that will now be played in the Europa Conference League. This will be done by implementing the
following workflow;
Initial Squad Assessment & Transfer Window Analysis
• Primary squad profiling by on-field positions and remaining contract length.
• Secondary squad profiling by age and remaining contract length.
• ‘Peak Age’ squad profile graphic.
• Summer & Winter transfer windows analysis (including net spends).
Recruitment Plan
• Identify and detail, using text, visualizations and similarity model output, realistic transfer targets from a
long list I believe are needed to fill the positions highlighted by myself that are of a standard that will
enhance the current squad all within the known current wage structure and separated by on-field
positional sections.
• Highlight other possible targets not detailed in the primary analysis identification process.
