Gouri is another striker playing in Ligue 1 who has had
a fine season in front of goal scoring 15 goals and
providing 3 assists along the way. A clinical, inventive
finisher inside the box (think of Wayne Rooney type
player in these areas) he has been very impressive
exceeding his xG per 90 of 0.38 and hitting 0.49 goals
per 90. Watkins has been equally impressive its fair to
say especially in the latter half of the 22\23 season for
Villa. Gouri’s best position is as an out-and-out center
forward but in Rennes last 8 games of the season he
was had played on the left of front three in a 4-3-3, on
the left of a midfield four or in the AML left position
(hence his creative numbers increasing) and was just
as effective so he is versatile and able to play in various
attacking positions.
His aerial ability is one of his weaknesses, but he
prefers to finish using his feet anyway which is his
biggest strength. On a long contract so chances of him
being signed are probably quite slim.
