Another player who has valuable EPL experience and
who has had a relatively decent season for Villarreal in
La Liga. Left footer Lo Celso is much admired for his
close ball control and nifty footwork to evade his
opponent. He joined The Yellow Submarine on loan
under then manager Unai Emery and so the current
Villa manager not only wanted him at that time but
also knows very well what he would be getting should
the Argentine come to Villa Park.
Lo Celso is a versatile attacking midfielder who can play
up front as a withdrawn center forward in a front two,
but his best position is wide left in a midfield four in a
4-4-2 which would mean he could slot right into
Emery’s current 4-4-2 system, he can also play in the
CAM position in a 4-2-3-1 again another shape Emery
has deployed in 22\23.
He was of course on loan from Tottenham with no
option to buy included and so negotiations would be
with them although his contract has now expired.
