Overnight <strong>September</strong> 4: AMazda Atenza was stolen fromoutside aproperty on<br />

Durham St, Rangiora –later located in Aranui.<br />

Overnight <strong>September</strong> 5:Female viewed on CCTV stealing ablackbike from outside<br />

the Kaiapoi SPCA Op Shop; Two Commercial premises in Waikuku and Woodend<br />

had their gas water heaters stolen off their exterior wall; Atraffic light trailer was<br />

stolen from Tram Road ,West Eyreton. The trailer is yellow withasolar panel<br />

attached above the lights and two wheel chains at therear; Acontractors truckhad<br />

diesel siphoned while parked in the LeithfieldSchool carpark, offenders were<br />

disturbed when the security light activated; An attempted theft of aToyota Corolla<br />

on Otaki Street, Kaiapoi –smashed rearquarterlight window and damaged ignition<br />

barrel; An attempted theft of aMazda Atenza on Dawson Douglas Place, Kaiapoi –<br />

left rear window smashed; An attempted theftofaMazda Atenza on Goodwin Street,<br />

Rangiora –the offendersmashed the quarterlight window and fled when the alarm<br />

activated attempting to open the door; An attempted theft of aMazda Atenza on<br />

Devlin Ave, Rangiora –rear quarterlight window smashed and ignitiondamaged.<br />

Overnight <strong>September</strong> 6: Amale was seen acting suspiciously on aGreta Valley<br />

property, he appeared to be scoping out sheds, nothing appearstobetaken, no<br />

further reports in the area; Ahouse under construction in Amberley had the Rheem<br />

gas system stolen; While updating computer security achat box appeared and the<br />

customer was told her IP address had been compromised and requires protective<br />

software forUS$399. She allowed remote access to her computer and provided<br />

credit carddetails. She was able to report to Police andthe bank in time before<br />

funds weretaken –however her computerwill needtobecleaned to prevent access<br />

by the scammers; Unauthorised street racing in the Carrs Road, Loburn area,<br />

reported the following day.<br />

Overnight <strong>September</strong> 7: Bank St, Amberley –male woken by someoneattempting to<br />

open his sliding door –nil access gained, nothing taken; Suspended male driver<br />

located driving in Kaiapoi, vehicle impounded for 28 days; Male drivers processed<br />

for Excess Breath Alcohol ­Amberley,Kaiapoi &Oxford; Male youth issued an<br />

infringement noticefor containing breath alcohol, Fernside; Male youth processed<br />

for excess breath alcohol,Rangiora.<br />

Overnight <strong>September</strong> 8: Tools stolen from thecanopy of atradies vehicle parked on<br />

adriveway on Hassall Street, Rangiora.<br />

Overnight <strong>September</strong> 9: Car found burnt out under the Ashley River bridge,<br />

Waikuku;NissanTiida stolen fromParklandsdumped at an address on Jennings<br />

Place, Rangiora.<br />

Overnight <strong>September</strong> 10: Disqualified female driver located drivinginKaiapoi,<br />

vehicle impounded for 28 days;Mazda Atenza stolen from Christchurchfound burnt<br />

out near DiversionRd, Swannanoa; Firewood stolen from aproperty in Quinn<br />

Crescent, Woodend.<br />

Overnight <strong>September</strong> 11: Political billboard vandalised in WekaPass;Workshop<br />

broken into in Cheviot,agenerator andmany power tools stolen.<br />

Police have issued multiple tickets to drivers usingtheir mobile phones while<br />

driving around the district.<br />

This is aserious issue and many of our serious accidents including fatals are caused<br />

by distracted drivers. Police willcontinue to target drivers using mobile phones.<br />

Please pull over safely when needing to answer an urgent call or text if you can’t do<br />

this hands free.<br />

Community Arts Council in<br />

partnership with Chamber Music New<br />

Zealand.<br />

It is the second show in the Calathea<br />

Quartet’s eight­venue tour of New<br />

Zealand.<br />
