Air Quality<br />
To ensure air quality and people’s health, C.Vale monitors the emission of atmospheric<br />
gases. The cooperative takes advantage of the methane gas (CH4) generated by the<br />
effluents from the starch modifiers factories and Piglet Production Unit to generate<br />
clean energy and minimize the greenhouse effect. In the case of the two cassava<br />
processing industries, in Assis Chateaubriand and Terra Roxa, both in Paraná (PR), the<br />
measure reduces the costs of industries with firewood by approximately 75%, that is,<br />
it avoids the consumption of more than 50,000 trees /year.<br />
