Skipping Christmas by John Grisham
Did you know that John Grisham, the master of the legal thriller, has written a Christmas story? In
Skipping Christmas, Luther and Nora Krank’s daughter has gone off to Peru to volunteer. It will be the first
Christmas she has been away from home. The Kranks decide they will skip Christmas, no lights, no tree, no
gifts and no parties. Instead, they will go on a Caribbean cruise.
Who hasn’t fleetingly thought of escaping the busy holiday season for a lovely vacation. But, to actually
do this, leads to all kinds of complications. Skipping Christmas is a light hearted look at what happens
when you go against the social norms at this time of year.
The library also has a Christmas story by David Baldacci called the Christmas Train. We have other
Christmas themed books written by James Patterson, Debbie Macomber, Fern Michaels, Susan Mallery and
Anita Hughes. Take a look at our collection if you would like to get into the holiday spirit with a good
book.
Many of our patrons also enjoy doing puzzles, so we have created a Christmas puzzle for you.
The following 3 lines are from well known Christmas carols. We hope you enjoy trying to figure out
which ones they are from.
“Glories stream from heaven afar,”
“Later on, we’ll conspire,”
“There must have been some magic in that old silk hat they found,”
The answers can be found on page 38.
