December is upon us!!
A couple of weeks ago, I sat down on my couch with my
computer on my lap and started writing my December 2023
Message From the Board. I mentioned how we are likely busy
planning or attending activities, searching for the right gift, or
visiting family, and so on. I kept on writing until, near the end of
the third paragraph, I got this eerie feeling that I had said all this
before. So, I went to the Sentinel site and brought up my
December 2022 Message From The Board and discovered my
first 3 paragraphs were almost word for word (picture a
SHOCKED emoji!).
I wasn’t sure if I should congratulate myself on my memory
retention but that wouldn’t be fair, as I did not initially remember
that I was writing sentences the same as last year. Then I thought
maybe I should be sad because there wasn’t something new and
exciting to report, like I went into space or invented something
really exciting. My daughter, who did not inherit my full sense
of humour, said, “Mom, do you really think anyone is going to
sit down and read your Message From the Board and say, Gee,
this message sounds just like last year’s, let’s make sure she
knows”.
So, I’m restarting my December 2023 Message From the Board
as follows:
Welcome to December! I can feel the holiday spirit in the air as
the celebrations and activities start to emerge including the
decoration of Christmas trees, singing of Holiday Carols,
creating Winter Solstice Art, or the smell of cookies baking in
the oven. We hope you are able to enjoy “relaxation in the peace
of the season.”
One of the most important and sincere things I can’t stress
enough about is that you take the opportunity to read through the
Sentinel so you don’t miss anything. The GWSA Monthly
