Kamran Samimi’s debut exhibition at The<br />

Third L<strong>in</strong>e, “Before Nature (I Am Both Created<br />

and Destroyed),” draws <strong>in</strong>spiration from<br />

<strong>the</strong> UAE’s natural materials. Translations<br />

(<strong>2024</strong>) explores Dubai’s architecture through<br />

organic shapes <strong>in</strong>spired by <strong>the</strong> local mounta<strong>in</strong>s.<br />

Small Monuments (2023) features<br />

stones from global locations transformed<br />

<strong>in</strong>to unique canvases, while Ra<strong>in</strong> Pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>gs<br />

(2023) pays homage to Samimi’s Hawai’i<br />

childhood. The centerpiece, Unbroken Column<br />

(<strong>2024</strong>), crafted from limestone, reflects<br />

Pouran J<strong>in</strong>chi’s latest series, “Fly Like Dandelions 9” (2023), draws <strong>in</strong>spiration<br />

from <strong>the</strong> New York Times article “Great Climate Migration.” Depict<strong>in</strong>g landscapes<br />

affected by climate change, J<strong>in</strong>chi uses Persian characters for “trees”<br />

to create fad<strong>in</strong>g depictions of tree trunks, merg<strong>in</strong>g traditional calligraphy with<br />

abstraction. Her color palette reflects devastation <strong>in</strong> black and grey, with blue<br />

embody<strong>in</strong>g hope. Dandelions, symboliz<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> nuanced nature of migration,<br />

drift across <strong>the</strong> pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>gs as calligraphic seed pods, represent<strong>in</strong>g resilient migrants<br />

navigat<strong>in</strong>g new paths amid climate change’s profound impact.<br />
