AN EXPERIENCE AS A<br />

MEDIUM<br />

I have often been asked how I know things that I can’t<br />

possibly know or how I get my information when I am<br />

doing a reading. The simple answer is that I really do<br />

not know. Whether we are all connected by some<br />

linked energy source or whether messages are being<br />

given to me by guides I simply do not know.<br />

I thought that it might be of interest to the reader to<br />

have some insight into what I have experienced myself.<br />

Generally, when I am reading for someone, I get an<br />

image, or they remind me of someone that I know, and<br />

it often transpires that they are going through similar<br />

experiences to that person or have similar personality<br />

traits.<br />

It is always so much easier to read for someone that I<br />

don’t know, that way I am not second guessing whether<br />

the messages I am getting are correct or not. If<br />

someone I know wants me to do a reading for them<br />

then generally, I will use tarot rather than just plain<br />

intuition, but this is not always the case.<br />

I think that the most bizarre case I had was several<br />

years ago. I kept my horses at a yard owned by a<br />

traditional travelling gypsy husband and wife who had<br />

settled on a piece of land. One day the wife approached<br />

me and said, “You know things, don’t you?” To say I was<br />

taken aback rather was an understatement. I had not<br />

even spoken to her before and no one else at the yard<br />

knew of my spiritual gifts, as far as I was aware.<br />

I seem to recall that I just sort of dumbly nodded at her<br />

so she went on to say, “Something happened to my<br />

husband, and I just wanted to know if you could work it<br />

out.”<br />

At that, she just sort of looked at me intently and<br />

then wandered off towards her mobile home. I<br />

remember just standing there and suddenly an image<br />

of a melting gold clock face came to me along with an<br />

elderly woman and I just knew what had happened.<br />

The next day I went in search of her and told her<br />

what I had deduced from the images.<br />

The story that I had been given from the pictures I<br />

had received was that her husband had owned a gold<br />

watch which was a family heirloom and had been<br />

handed down to him from his grandmother. The<br />

watch had consequently been stolen by a family<br />

member, I believed that this was a cousin. This had<br />

then caused a family rift that could never be healed.<br />

I said that the watch could be recovered but at a price<br />

that was probably not worth paying.<br />

Once I had finished telling her the message that I had<br />

been given she just looked at me and said, “So he did<br />

take it then”, before walking away.<br />

Now, how could I have ever known any of this?<br />

To this day, it still astounds me.<br />

On giving readings to people, I have often been told<br />

that no one else has ever gotten as close to the truth<br />

as I have done. I find this truly humbling and feel<br />

blessed and thankful for being given such an amazing<br />

gift.<br />

WORKING WITH<br />

CRYSTALS<br />

I have written lots of articles about different crystals,<br />

their properties and correspondences and I thought<br />

that it might be nice to write about simple ways that<br />

you can use crystals in everyday life. I have chosen a<br />

few of my favourite ones and the best thing about<br />

them is that these crystals are all readily available<br />

and inexpensive.<br />

To start working with crystals you do not need to<br />

buy an expensive and impressive Amethyst cave or a<br />

beautiful crystal bowl. These things are lovely to<br />

have but are not necessary. The most important<br />

thing about working with crystals is to use your<br />

intuition. Your body, unconscious mind and indeed,<br />

your very soul will know which crystals you need to<br />

be working with. You will be drawn to them, whether<br />

in a shop, when you are looking to buy a crystal or<br />

when you are sitting with your collection of them.<br />

Just as I have been drawn to write this article today.<br />

Sleep<br />

Let’s start with sleep. Sleep is the way that our body<br />

and mind rejuvenate itself. Lack of sleep makes us<br />

unable to function properly as a person. Whether<br />

this manifests itself as irritability or a lack of<br />

judgement, we have all experienced sleep<br />

deprivation at one time or another. One way to help<br />

you get a restful night's sleep, I have found, is to grid<br />

your bed with amethyst and rose quartz tumble<br />

stones.<br />

This is basically as simple as having four amethyst<br />

and four rose quartz stones and placing one of each<br />

under the mattress on the four corners of the bed. If<br />

you are trying to induce your baby to sleep well you<br />

can place the crystals by the legs of the cot. Please<br />

remember to pick them up in the morning if your<br />

baby is mobile or you have other small children in<br />

the house to avoid a choking hazard.<br />

Keep a sleep diary and experiment with the number<br />

and position of the crystals to see what works best<br />

for you. You may find that placing the crystals under<br />

your pillow and at the foot of the bed works better<br />

for you. Everyone is different and there are no rules.<br />

Money<br />

Let’s face it, love it or hate it, we all need money in<br />

this world in order to exist.<br />

It would be wonderful if we could all live in this<br />

world in love and harmony and all work together to<br />

provide what we need to enjoy a fulsome and<br />

contented life. However, until we reach such a<br />

wonderful state of nirvana we have to earn money to<br />

pay our bills.<br />

A simple way to ensure that your purse is never<br />

empty, however, is to place a natural citrine stone in<br />

your purse and this will ensure that your purse<br />

always contains money. It must be a natural citrine<br />

though and not a heat-treated amethyst.<br />

Since learning this many years ago, I have always<br />

kept a small natural citrine tumble stone in my purse<br />

and I have never been in a position where I could not<br />

cover my bills.<br />

DON’T PANIC<br />

In moments of stress, people will revert to that which is familiar. They will seek refuge in certain behaviours,<br />

attitudes or reactions which is part of their subconscious understanding of themselves, of what they are used<br />

to, in order to protect themselves.<br />

Such behaviour will often be connected to a certain situation, place or surrounding. People will have a go-to<br />

behaviour in the workplace, another in the sports club and a different one at home. Regrettably, that can often<br />

be a drink, a cigarette or a raised voice.<br />

I think many of us remember a typical film scene with someone saying “I need a drink”. It is important to<br />

actively work on replacing the drink, the cigarette and the raised voice with peace, keeping a distance,<br />

breathing deeply or similar behaviour that is positive, benevolent and calming.<br />

Some actors make use of this phenomenon. Through intense rehearsal, they construct a go-to behaviour<br />

connected to the work on stage or film set. If they feel stressed in front of an audience or camera, they will<br />

automatically seek comfort in the script, in the character they play or in the layout of the stage they stand on.<br />

This is even a technique used in some forms of stress<br />

management. The client will think of a safe place, a<br />

place of comfort or maybe a situation, that is<br />

pleasant. It can be a favourite spot in the<br />

countryside or a game played as a child. The client<br />

will practice thinking about that place or situation,<br />

time and time again and each time work on creating<br />

a trigger. The trigger can be a movement with the<br />

hand, a certain word or something else that the<br />

client will subconsciously connect with the safe<br />

place or situation. Then, in a moment of stress or<br />

even panic, by activating the trigger, the client will<br />

instantly feel the sense of joy, safety and comfort<br />

connected with the safe place.<br />

When I worked in business, I would make use of this<br />

technique.<br />

I often woke up in the early hours of the morning,<br />

feeling stress and anxiety about the meetings and<br />

negotiations planned for that day. Will I remember<br />

what to say? Will my negotiation technique be<br />

sufficiently effective? Will I be able to represent my<br />

employer in a professional way?<br />

Even before getting out of bed, I would do a quick<br />

meditation. Then it was time for breakfast. After a<br />

second meditation, I would put on my suit, like a<br />

knight would put on his armour.<br />

I regarded my mirror image and I spoke out aloud to<br />

myself and said “You can do this!” And with those<br />

words, I kicked off my business day.<br />

This is why it is so important to practice a routine, to<br />

repeat time and again a certain behaviour that will<br />

help you in dealing with stressful situations.<br />

Ingrain a behaviour that is positive, benevolent and<br />

functional in your subconscious.<br />

THE SERPENT<br />

The Dogon tribe were not the only ancient civilization to<br />

revere a serpent like god (the Dogons called them Nommos<br />

– see <strong>Alchemical</strong> <strong>Voice</strong> Nov/Dec 23).<br />

Civilizations from all corners of the world had their own<br />

versions. Just as the symbol of Amma’s egg is the starting<br />

point for the Dogon creation myth, numerous myths repeat<br />

the classic themes of creation from water, the existence of a<br />

primordial cosmic egg, and the emergence of paired<br />

opposites.<br />

The influence of the serpent symbol spanned a wide set of<br />

regions, religions and societies and was most commonly<br />

associated with wisdom.<br />

Across the world, ancient cultures spoke of a<br />

knowledgeable, godlike teacher associated with the serpent<br />

who taught mankind about cosmology and the workings of<br />

the universe. They were more advanced than we are today.<br />

And then the serpents fell from grace.<br />

When and why were serpents transformed in the minds of<br />

the people from deified ancestors to vilified fallen gods?<br />

For the Egyptians, there was a turning point at the end of<br />

the Old Kingdom (during the Second Intermediate Period<br />

around 1600 BC) when there was major upheaval in Egypt.<br />

The Prophecy of Nefertiti (a papyrus text thought to be<br />

written by a prophet early in the Middle Kingdom) has a<br />

description of terrible destruction at this time. Pritchard’s<br />

translation in Ancient Near Eastern Texts:<br />

“Re must begin the foundation (of the earth over again). The<br />

land is completely perished, no remainder exists… The sun disc<br />

is covered over… It will not shine (so that) people may see. No<br />

one can live when clouds cover over (the sun).<br />

The rivers of Egypt are empty, (so that) the water is crossed on<br />

foot. Men seek for water for the ships to sail on it. Its course is<br />

a sandbank..<br />

The land is helter-skelter.. That which never happened has<br />

happened..<br />

Re separates himself from mankind… No one knows when<br />

midday falls, for his shadow cannot be distinguished.”<br />

In Myth and Symbol in Ancient Egypt by R.T. Rundle Clark he<br />

cites a myth which probably dates from the early Middle<br />

Kingdom. It describes how the power of the primeval snakes<br />

was curtailed, resulting in the ascendance of the god Thoth<br />

as the primary state god of Egypt: This God (Atum) called to<br />

Thoth, saying: “Summon Geb to me, saying, ‘Come, hurry!’” So<br />

when Geb had come to him, he said:<br />

“Take care of the serpents which are in you. Behold, they<br />

showed respect for me while I was down there. But now you<br />

have learned their real nature. Proceed to the place where<br />

Father Nun is, tell him to guard over the serpents, whether in<br />

the earth or in the water… I will hand them over to your son<br />

Osiris so that he can watch over their children and the hearts of<br />

their fathers be made to forget. Thus advantage can come from<br />

them, out of what they perform for love of the whole world,<br />

through the magical power that is in them.”<br />

The curtailment progressed to vilification:-<br />

“The serpents are the demonic, chaotic powers who dwell in the<br />

lower world. As long as the High God dwelt in the Abyss or on<br />

earth they were under control, but after the rebellion of<br />

mankind he departed to the sky. The serpents thought that God<br />

no longer existed and began to show their true colours. He<br />

therefore sent Geb down to them with a written message. They<br />

were to keep within the earth, where they would live eternally.<br />

They have power – Hike – but Geb has knowledge. The forces<br />

of nature have to be curbed by ‘knowledge’… Ultimately, the<br />

task of curbing the serpents devolves on Osiris.”<br />

Egypt was driven under great duress to free its slaves and<br />

make dramatic revisions to its religion and society. The<br />

historical reverence of the Egyptians for the serpent gods<br />

ended and a newfound fear for them emerged.<br />

Some researchers assign the Exodus of the Jews from Egypt<br />

to this same time period. In the book of Exodus (written by<br />

Moses), Moses presented himself to the Egyptian pharaoh<br />

and turned his staff into a serpent, showing he knew the<br />

secrets or knowledge of the serpent.<br />

According to Moses, the first commandment given by God<br />

to Moses was, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me”,<br />

with a specific reference to the former serpent gods.<br />

The ‘serpents which are in you’ refers to kundalini (coiled<br />

snake in Hinduism), a form of divine feminine energy located<br />

at the base of the spine.<br />

The Book of Genesis has also been assigned to Moses; once<br />

again the serpent is demonized in the story of Adam and<br />

Eve in the Garden of Eden.<br />

The serpent came to represent the fallen angel of<br />

Christianity, the symbol of the devil being a horned former<br />

deity with a tail like serpent.<br />

This was when the mystery schools and their oral traditions<br />

were formed. To preserve the reverence of the serpent and<br />

reclaim an individual’s power from the priests who wanted<br />

to be the only interface for divine connection.<br />

In Mary Magdalene’s Legacy,<br />

“Mary Magdalene’s mother had trained as a priestess at the<br />

Great Mother Isis Temple School in Alexandria. She wore a<br />

golden serpent on her left arm, spiralling up from the elbow,<br />

signifying she was an initiate of this Temple School. The serpent<br />

represents the Kundalini energy at the base of the spine, which<br />

when activated through specific energetic or Tantric practices,<br />

can spiral up and shift consciousness in an individual beyond<br />

the mind into Cosmic Awareness. This symbol of resurrection<br />

indicates the wearer has been initiated into the mysteries of<br />

Isis, and serves the Great Mother’s creation and its awakening<br />

from ‘spiritual death’ or separation consciousness. The electro<br />

(male) – magnetic (female) energy of the earth also flows in a<br />

serpentine fashion, called ley lines. These ley lines<br />

circumnavigate the earth to form a consciousness grid. The<br />

seven ancient wonders of the world are located on ley lines and<br />

are energetic ‘power points’. This energy can be channelled and<br />

directed for the benefit of the earth and all its life forms.”<br />

Yeshua understood the true nature of the serpent. In Mary<br />

Magdalene’s Final Legacy,<br />

“When Yeshua sent his apostles out he instructed them to be<br />

‘as wise as serpents and harmless as doves’. To be ‘as wise as<br />

serpents’ refers to the attainment of wisdom or cosmic<br />

consciousness through the arousal of kundalini up through the<br />

spine, to the spiritual and psychic centres of the head.<br />

To be ‘as harmless as doves’ refers to the striving of this<br />

objective with a purified consciousness. This ‘serpent power’ is<br />

incredibly powerful, and without pure or good intention, could<br />

be harmful.”<br />

The Gnostics also revered the serpent. In The Testimony of<br />

Truth (Nag Hammadi Library) God is characterized as a<br />

jealous master, whose tyranny the serpent taught Adam and<br />

Eve to resist in the Garden of Eden:-<br />

“…God gave (a command) to Adam, ‘From every tree you may<br />

eat, (but) from the tree which is in the midst of Paradise do not<br />

eat, for on the day that you eat from it you will surely die.’<br />

But the serpent was wiser than all the animals that were in<br />

Paradise, and he persuaded Eve, saying, ‘On the day when you<br />

eat from the tree which is in the midst of Paradise, the eyes of<br />

your mind will be opened.’<br />

And Eve obeyed… she ate, she also gave to her husband.”<br />

The Orthodox Church demonized the serpent and instilled<br />

fear into the people to neutralise its power– it is no<br />

coincidence that fear of snakes is the most common phobia<br />

in the world today.<br />

Sadly, in effect we are frightened of our own power.<br />

Now is the time to reclaim it.<br />

In the last issue, I explained the scale of consciousness,<br />

and how we are all energy and all vibrate. Angels<br />

operate on the vibration of love.<br />

We have just experienced February where the emphasis<br />

was on St Valentine’s Day and a month of love. There<br />

are different types of love, which I am sure you are<br />

aware of. St Valentine’s Day is the romantic love,<br />

intimate love. I want to focus on unconditional love<br />

which is the love we have for all beings. Unconditional<br />

love is love for everyone regardless. Angels vibrate on<br />

this frequency, they love us unconditionally, whatever<br />

we do.<br />

We can achieve this, we can love everyone<br />

unconditionally. We do not have to condone what they<br />

do, or even like them but by being on the loving<br />

vibration we can live life in a different way. A way that<br />

benefits us as well as others.<br />

Do you love yourself? until we love ourselves we cannot<br />

love others. We cannot expect others to love us as we<br />

are vibrating at a lesser level if we do not love ourselves<br />

- we may feel ‘not good enough’ or ‘unlovable’. If we<br />

vibrate and project these feelings, then we are not<br />

loving ourselves. We are not on the vibration of love,<br />

and not able to offer unconditional love.<br />

We are in <strong>March</strong> and <strong>April</strong> and seasons are changing,<br />

the dormancy and hibernation of winter has passed. You<br />

will see the signs of growth in the flowers, tulips and<br />

daffodils. The days are longer and there is more<br />

sunshine. Your mood will change and rise. As your mood<br />

has risen, you may even be saying “I love the spring“ “I<br />

love the sunshine“. The Universe is providing you with<br />

things outside of yourself to help you feel better, and<br />

vibrate on a higher level.<br />

Let’s build on this “better” feeling.<br />

How can you love yourself more?<br />

Just taking time out to think about this, is loving<br />

yourself. Ask Archangel Jophiel for help. Her name<br />

means Beauty of God, and she enables us to see things<br />

from a positive viewpoint. You may think about<br />

pampering yourself as a way of loving yourself, but also<br />

consider what you are thinking. If we mentally call<br />

ourselves names, or ‘speak’ in our thoughts to ourselves<br />

in a negative way, then we are not being kind to<br />

ourselves, we are not loving ourselves. When you look<br />

at yourself in the mirror in the morning, say ‘hello’ to<br />

yourself. Speak kindly to yourself. Consider one thing<br />

about you that you like - you might have beautiful hair,<br />

or a distinguished nose. Value this characteristic, value<br />

yourself. Tell yourself in the mirror that you love<br />

yourself, or that you are lovable, also do one thing a<br />

month as a treat, something that you would really love<br />

and will take your mind away from your responsibilities.<br />

So to love ourselves more we are using our outside<br />

situation, we are speaking kindly to ourselves and telling<br />

ourselves we are lovable. We are doing the mirror work<br />

and giving ourselves time in a monthly treat. You will<br />

find that you do not need to wait a month for this to<br />

take effect. Your vibration will rise and you will be able<br />

to give unconditional love, by the very way you act and<br />

go about your day.<br />

Abraham Hicks quotes ‘As you think you vibrate. As you<br />

vibrate you attract’. As you go about your day and in<br />

this higher vibration of love, you will attract more love<br />

to yourself. For instance, when you go to the<br />

supermarket, view the trip as a pleasure, not a chore.<br />

Your higher vibration will be perceived, you will attract<br />

more of the same. The person at the checkout will<br />

possibly smile and chat, others will make space for you.<br />

You love yourself and those around you, you have time<br />

MATHEMATICS AND<br />

SPIRITUALITY<br />

There is a lot written about mathematics, and the<br />

spiritual, mystical and magical side to it. There are<br />

books, articles and plenty of information and analysis<br />

on the internet. What I write in this article is a selection<br />

of my own thoughts and feelings; what I have<br />

channelled through interaction with Spirit. I have made<br />

no attempt at being neither complete nor conclusive in<br />

my treatment of the vast subject of mathematics and<br />

spirituality.<br />

So is there something to it? Is there magic in numbers?<br />

Is there numbers in magic?<br />

When I was a kid, arithmetic was my first journey into<br />

the world of mathematics. My childhood was riddled<br />

with insecurity and anxiety. When I learned that<br />

addition, subtraction, multiplication and division always<br />

followed the same rules, I was fascinated. 2 + 3 = 5<br />

today. The addition would render the same result<br />

tomorrow as it did yesterday. Also next year, 2 + 3<br />

would result in 5. Even with a new teacher in school or<br />

a new government in parliament, 2 +3 would still be 5.<br />

I realized that I could trust arithmetic. Addition and the<br />

other basic ways of calculation became my friends. I<br />

could rely on them. They would never fail me. Finally,<br />

there was something in my life that never changed.<br />

Arithmetic was not whimsical, capricious or based on<br />

serendipity. It was magically consistent and never<br />

changing.<br />

Numbers are symbols. It is important to keep that in<br />

mind. When I was a boy, I found myself particularly<br />

fascinated with the number 7. I had no idea why. I had<br />

never come across a 7, never seen one in the woods<br />

near where I lived. The farmers, my family visited to<br />

buy potatoes, apples and honey, had fruit trees, bees<br />

and cows. They did not have any 7s.<br />

7 is a symbol. It does not exist in real life. (Or maybe it<br />

does?) Yet, I felt drawn to 7. It did not come across as<br />

particularly pretty, being two lines of unequal length<br />

joined together at a pointed angle. It did not contain<br />

any factors. It was what it was. I think I liked 7 the same<br />

way I liked Western movies on TV. There was a rough<br />

honesty to them. A straight forward morality, enforced<br />

with a no-nonsense attitude. For me, the number 7 was<br />

a cowboy. When you gained his trust you could rely on<br />

him. 7 became my friend.<br />

I was a little boy and I had just entered into an entirely<br />

new world. I felt that there really should be many, many<br />

numbers considering how much you could do with<br />

them. Yet there were only 9, maybe 10 if 0 should be<br />

considered a number. So I already knew all the numbers.<br />

There would not be any more revealed to me next<br />

week. 1 through 9 became my playmates and the basic<br />

forms of calculus became magic rituals.<br />

I began to play with numbers. Addition and subtraction<br />

was easy and straightforward. I quickly realised that<br />

multiplication and division were simply the inverse of<br />

each other, so basically the same thing, just the other<br />

way around.<br />

I loved doing the exercises in my school books. For fun,<br />

I created my own exercises just to see what would<br />

happen and how numbers and computations would pan<br />

out.<br />

Then I wanted to understand the inner nature of<br />

numbers. I began by doing multiplications to try to<br />

understand how one small number times another small<br />

number would result in a much bigger one and what<br />

that would look like. The bigger number would house<br />

the small numbers within its structure. I was fascinated<br />

by this, almost metaphysical discovery. It was almost<br />

like a cloak-and-dagger scenario in a spy story.<br />

Wherever I saw numbers, I would try to deconstruct<br />

them to see what they would look like inside. 49 were<br />

7*7, and just two participants in the ballet of<br />

mathematics. 36 were 2*2*3*3 and four participants.<br />

For me, the number 49 became more “pure” than the<br />

number 36. I began to look for a double digit number<br />

with just one participant, being the number itself. I felt<br />

like a secret agent, trying to decode a hidden message.<br />

Then, I found that 53 was such a number.<br />

There are no smaller numbers, that multiplied with each<br />

other would result in 53. For me, 53 became a solid<br />

number, unbreakable and with the purity of diamond.<br />

Without knowing it, I had discovered prime numbers.<br />

Prime numbers<br />

Antiquity was a time of analysis, consideration and<br />

interpretation. One way to study nature, the world<br />

around us and the night sky, was the use of numbers<br />

and calculus. The philosophers of the day were also<br />

interested in exploring numbers as such. They felt that<br />

there could be a metaphysical quality to numbers, in<br />

addition to their numerical function. By extension, the<br />

use of numbers developed from mere arithmetic to a<br />

greater use in symbolism.<br />

A special subset of numbers is prime numbers. The<br />

definition is that they are integers that only have two<br />

factors, itself and 1. As an example, 13 is a prime<br />

number. It can only be written as 1 x 13.<br />

Prime numbers attracted a lot of attention in antiquity,<br />

by mathematicians such as Euclid (3rd century BC) and<br />

Pythagoras (6th century BC).<br />

You would think that there is a limit to how big a prime<br />

number can be and still only have two factors, itself and<br />

1. But there actually isn’t. Euclid of Alexandria showed<br />

that there is an infinite number of prime numbers. This<br />

is weirder than you think. Take a look at the number 2<br />

147 467 379. It may not be readily obvious but this<br />

number cannot be evenly divided by any other number.<br />

As a matter of fact, this is simply a reflection of the<br />

nature of mathematics. However, for me as an adult,<br />

the number 2 147 467 379 becomes as strong and as<br />

magical as the number 7 was for me as a child. It<br />

cannot be divided. It stands firm, with great resolve and<br />

will resist any attempts of divisiveness.<br />

Music of the spheres and other vibrations<br />

Pythagoras was a Greek philosopher, mathematician<br />

and much more. Today, he is undoubtedly best known<br />

for his theorem about the relationship between the<br />

sides of a triangle with one corner at a right angle.<br />

Pythagoras also put forward a theory that each of the<br />

heavenly bodies comprising our solar system would<br />

cause a certain musical note.<br />

He was actually on to something there.<br />

There are as a matter of fact recordings of the original<br />

sound of the universe, from just after the Big Bang.<br />

That is, if by sound we mean a fluctuation in the form<br />

of wavelengths and frequencies.<br />

The frequency of the cosmic background radiation is<br />

160,4 GHz.<br />

Comparing Pythagoras’ idea of the music of the spheres<br />

and the sound from the Big Bang might be somewhat<br />

far fetched. Yet, there is a lot to be said about cosmic<br />

and eternal sounds, about religious chants and<br />

drumming. Think of the Aum sound, mostly attributed<br />

to Hinduism where chanting Aum connects you to the<br />

origin and first “sound” of the Universe. The frequency<br />

of this sound is 432 Hz. Shamanic drumming is typically<br />

at a rate of 7Hz or slightly less. The Earth has its own<br />

vibration, often referred to as the Schumann frequency,<br />

of 7,8 Hz.<br />

All these vibrations can be described as mathematical<br />

correlations between physical entities and occurrences.<br />

Yet, I cannot help being fascinated by the metaphysical<br />

aspect of the sound waves. I invite the reader to do<br />

some chanting and drumming, meditate outdoors and<br />

sense the heartbeat of planet Earth and be showered<br />

with radiation from the beginning of time.<br />

How much is nothing?<br />

Here is a thought for you: take a look at the division<br />

x/x. It must be 1, right? Let us for example assign x the<br />

value 215. That gives us the division 215/215 = 1. If<br />

you have a division of two equal numbers, the result<br />

must be 1. Clear as mud, isn’t it? But what if x = 0 ? This<br />

is where it does get a bit muddy. We all know, indeed<br />

learned in school, that it is impossible to divide by zero.<br />

But with above reasoning, it appears as if 0/0 = 1,<br />

doesn’t it? It leads us to the question of what zero<br />

really is.<br />

I should add that if indeed 0/0 = 1, then it would follow<br />

that 1 x 0 = 0. Yet, any number times zero will give<br />

zero. In arithmetic, this is proof that division by zero<br />

makes no sense. “Nothing” is an intriguing concept in<br />

spirituality.<br />

Is it the absence of “something”? Is “nothing” an entity<br />

that can be measured? Can one set of nothingness be<br />

less than another set of nothingness?<br />

And is “zero” and “nothing” really the same thing? Both<br />

are expressions and there is always a risk that we get<br />

lost in language. The human language, its words,<br />

grammar and syntax, is really a blunt tool for describing<br />

life, existence and the world around us. However, with<br />

due consideration of the way we humans express<br />

ourselves, “zero” is a number in mathematics,<br />

represented by the numeral 0, whereas “nothing” has a<br />

more philosophical quality to it.<br />

Zero is not a prime number. Neither is it a composite<br />

number. There are not any unique factorials that<br />

multiplied with each other would give you zero (unless<br />

one of them is zero).<br />

A line of thought that is common for most of us, is that<br />

each concept or subject has an opposite. We talk about<br />

light and darkness, good and evil, God and the Devil,<br />

sound and silence, safety and danger etc. The division in<br />

opposites is something human beings do, in order to<br />

better understand the world around us.<br />

We find it hard to talk about “something” without<br />

acknowledging the opposite of “something”, which we<br />

could call “nothing”.<br />

There is a line which I have heard in several movies: “it<br />

is what it is”. Those words actually agree with the Greek<br />

philosopher Parmenides (5th century BC) who claimed<br />

that emptiness actually is something. With reference to<br />

the quoted movie line, Parmenides would only talk<br />

about “it is”, not “it is not”. He maintained that you can<br />

only talk about that which is, not that which is not.<br />

Also, remember the famous quote from Archimedes,<br />

who said that “nature abhors a vacuum”. Any space will<br />

immediately be filled with something.<br />

Another aspect that should be kept in mind is that many<br />

features of what we call reality are simply a<br />

consequence of certain conditions on planet Earth. Our<br />

understanding of reality also reflects the biochemistry<br />

and physiology of us as human beings, with our five<br />

natural senses and the limitations we inhabit as an<br />

expression of our species.<br />

From a Shamanic point of view, emptiness, nothing and<br />

zero are important concepts. In the event of soul loss,<br />

there will be an empty space within the person's being,<br />

a void with nothing in it. Without proper treatment,<br />

there is a clear risk that it will be filled with an<br />

addiction, such as tobacco smoking, alcohol, drugs or<br />

exaggerated work, exercise or any other activity. There<br />

could even be a risk of possession by a foreign entity or<br />

demon.<br />

The Golden Ratio<br />

What does the Mona Lisa, honey bees, the Taj Mahal<br />

and DNA have in common? Well, let’s see...<br />

I suggest you travel to the Louvre museum in Paris.<br />

Bring a ruler. Speak nicely to one of the museum guards<br />

and then measure the height and width of the face of<br />

the lady in the Mona Lisa painting. Divide the height<br />

with the width and you get 1,6.<br />

If you would have the patience to count the number of<br />

bees in a beehive, and then divide the number of female<br />

bees by the number of male bees you would get the<br />

number 1.618.<br />

Then I invite you to travel to the Taj Mahal in India and<br />

measure the length and width of it. Then carry out a<br />

division with those two numbers and you get<br />

approximately 1.6.<br />

If you had a very good microscope you could possibly<br />

see that the length of a DNA molecule is 34 Angstroms.<br />

The width of it is 21 Angstroms. Do the division and you<br />

get 1,619.<br />

What’s with the number 1,61 ?<br />

Let us make an experiment with basic arithmetic.<br />

Begin with one = 1.<br />

The next number is created by adding the present<br />

number ( = 1 ) and the number before that (= 0 ).<br />

We get 0 + 1 = 1. Now we have a series that is 0, 1, 1.<br />

With the same method, the next number will the<br />

present one with the previous number added to it.<br />

We get 1 + 1 = 2. Now the series is 0, 1, 1, 2.<br />

By repeating the same algorithm, we add 1 and 2 and<br />

get 3.<br />

If we continue in this fashion, we will create this series:<br />

0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233 and so on.<br />

This series is sometimes called the Fibonacci sequence.<br />

Fibonacci was a mathematician, who lived in Pisa (in<br />

present day Italy) in the late 12th century /early 13th<br />

century.<br />

Any two numbers in the series, with the higher divided<br />

by the lower, will render the result 1,618.<br />

The further along the series, the more accurate the<br />

division will be.<br />

Compare<br />

21/13 = 1,615384,<br />

55/34 = 1,617647,<br />

233/144 = 1,618055,<br />

1597/987 = 1,618034.<br />

This number – 1,618 - is often denoted by the Greek<br />

letterφ (fi). It is called the Golden Ratio. One could say<br />

that it is a mathematical expression for harmony and<br />

balance. Many artists, most notably Leonardo da Vinci,<br />

has made use of the Golden Ratio to create a sense of<br />

beauty in their artwork, making it pleasing to the human<br />

eye.<br />

From a spiritual point of view, the Golden Ratio can be<br />

viewed as an inherent ambition and desire within nature<br />

to find balance and beauty.<br />

Isomorphism<br />

There is a concept within mathematics called<br />

isomorphism. Look at these two numbers: 31513 and<br />

96269. They have the same structure. The number of<br />

digits is the same. The positions with equal digits within<br />

each number are also the same. For those reasons, they<br />

are isomorphic numbers.<br />

Now, I put it to you as a proposition that all healing<br />

modalities are isomorphic. Granted that I am not an<br />

expert on all forms and methods for healing, whether<br />

they be Reiki, Kinesiology, Acupuncture, Yoga,<br />

Shamanism and many more. Yet, I do claim that all<br />

approaches to healing have the same basic<br />

fundamentals. They all share a desire to improve the life<br />

situation of the client.<br />

There is a basic moral principle. It may vary but as a<br />

principle, disregarding its content, it is there as a<br />

guideline. There is a relationship between the<br />

practitioner and the client. This relationship is regulated<br />

in some way by the moral and ethical guidelines and also<br />

by the practicalities of the healing modality, how it is<br />

performed and what methodology is used.<br />

There is a similarity between the macro and the micro.<br />

The smallest fractal of the human body reflects the<br />

Cosmos. The fundamental aspects of life on planet Earth<br />

also exist in other parts of the Cosmos and permeate it<br />

with an innate wisdom that we can all tap into.<br />

Conclusion<br />

In the beginning of this article, I asked if there is<br />

something to it. Is there magic in numbers? Is there<br />

numbers in magic? My answer, as you might have<br />

guessed, is yes.<br />

As I see it, magic is best defined by your own<br />

relationship to nature, to your ancestors, and to the<br />

spiritual aspects of the great mystery. I suggest that you<br />

use my article to get some ideas and inspiration to use<br />

numbers and mathematics as one tool in your<br />

exploration of it.<br />

SEVEN WORDS OF<br />

ABUSE<br />

Why saying ‘should’, ‘ought’, ‘got to’,<br />

‘must’ and ‘have to’ are signs of codependency.<br />

How many times have you heard these words? I would<br />

guess probably every day, and further I would guess,<br />

in certain circumstances, many times a day!<br />

These words are used and responded to by people<br />

who generally have low self-worth. If you hear these<br />

words from your own conscious thoughts, they are<br />

being triggered by a part of your subconscious subpersonality<br />

programming called the ‘white knight’ - a<br />

part of us that gains worth by being a ‘good person’!<br />

I can also guess that you would never have considered<br />

that these words actually suppress your brain function<br />

and cause apoptosis of brain cells.<br />

These 7 words can literally turn your brain into<br />

‘mush’!<br />

Specifically when these words are heard, the signals<br />

that are picked up via your ears resonate in something<br />

called the ‘ventral lateral nucleus’; a part of your<br />

thalamus (the bit of your brain that acts like a router<br />

hub in your WiFi network).<br />

The thalamus does the same type of job as your WiFi<br />

system, sending signals from different parts of your<br />

brain to affect different areas of the body. In effect, it<br />

controls how you conduct your behaviour, which is<br />

why these 7 words have a profound impact on your<br />

ability to behave appropriately to the source from<br />

whence they came!<br />

Many different functions are linked to various<br />

regions of the thalamus. This part of your brain plays<br />

an important role in regulating states of sleep,<br />

wakefulness and consciousness, (defined in this case<br />

to be ‘in a state of arousal’) and the ability to use<br />

your senses to regulate appropriate behaviour<br />

towards external stimuli.<br />

So…….. the thalamus plays a major role in regulating<br />

arousal, your level of awareness, and activity.<br />

Damage or ‘lesion’ in this area provokes sensory<br />

deficits, mainly to your motor and language systems,<br />

and in certain circumstances can lead to permanent<br />

coma.<br />

Have you ever thought (or said) “I don’t know what to<br />

say”? This is your thalamus going into stress, as a<br />

reaction to an emotionally charged situation.<br />

The thalamus is functionally connected (that is to say<br />

NOT physically) to the hippocampus, the part of your<br />

brain that enables ‘spatial memory’, that is the ability<br />

to know where you are in a specific space. Spatial<br />

sensory information is crucial for ‘human episodic<br />

event memory’ - your memory of an event that has a<br />

strong emotional connection.<br />

You can see why this part of your brain is crucial in<br />

the aspects of senility, and ‘Alzheimers Disease’,<br />

something that is increasing in society at an alarming<br />

rate!<br />

If you think of the 7 words that we started this article<br />

with, then you can probably see that they are<br />

‘controlling / commanding messages’, which disable<br />

our ability to function rationally to a specific event.<br />

They can literally induce ‘coma’, not in a physical<br />

sense, but more in a psychological way.<br />

Often these words are used in a ‘co-dependant<br />

relationship’, where one party issues a command, and<br />

the other party obeys, usually through fear of loss.<br />

The opposite of ‘fear of loss’ is ASSURANCE.<br />

This can relate to how confident, optimistic hopeful<br />

and self-assured we are, and therefore these<br />

psychological states show in our thinking processes<br />

and behaviour.<br />

In effect the more we allow ourselves to be<br />

controlled, and allow fear of loss to consume us, the<br />

more functionally deficient we become.<br />

It is a wise person who realises when they are being<br />

controlled by another, and being aware of these 7<br />

words, AND dealing with them appropriately, results<br />

in an increase in confidence within ourselves.<br />

What if I told you that there is a divine intelligence guiding all<br />

that exists in the universe, at any given moment in time? An<br />

invisible force that never stops and never fails. The keeper of<br />

the soul cycle and destiny.<br />

I know, you will tell me that you are aware. But as we grow<br />

older, reasons replace inner knowing. We often think we<br />

know best how life should go. How is that working out so far<br />

for you?<br />

I would like to invite you on a little journey to the Azure River<br />

– the current of your life.<br />

The River appears to anyone holding on too tightly, fearing<br />

the flow of their life. You don’t have to go anywhere. Just<br />

stay here on this page with me, and let my words guide you.<br />

It is warm in the dark forest this evening. A blue light softly<br />

glows from the trees. Crickets chirp welcomingly, and a<br />

stream babbles in the background. This place feels so familiar,<br />

as if you’ve already been here, but cannot remember when.<br />

Almost like visiting an old friend. Your feet tread lowly on the<br />

soft path, following the sound of water. With every step, the<br />

sound becomes louder.<br />

And there, between the trees glows a blue stream. It steadily<br />

runs, feeling so inviting. You gently draw closer, and sink into<br />

the warm water.<br />

Welcome to the Azure River.<br />

The stream embraces you, taking you with it. You are floating<br />

- surrendering to the current. You have nowhere to be and<br />

nothing to do. Your shoulders drop, and a deep sense of inner<br />

peace washes over you. You are just floating in peace.<br />

Nowhere to be and nothing to do.<br />

As you gently drift in this warm embrace, a voice whispers in<br />

your ear: “I am the current of your life. The all-knowing,<br />

invisible thread that weaves everything in this cosmos into<br />

being. I take you from seed to soul, from incarnation through<br />

life on earth, and from death back to the great beyond. Every<br />

step that you take, every event that you partake in – I take<br />

you there. I float and float endlessly.”<br />

“Do you remember your time in the womb?”, asks the river<br />

gently. “Your cells knew how and where to grow. Your body<br />

was born on its own. You didn’t have to do anything but be.<br />

That is me – your current of life.”<br />

You feel the turns of the flowing water, drifting over stones<br />

and sand.<br />

The River continues: “If by tomorrow you choose to do<br />

nothing, I will still take you to where you need to be. I flow<br />

outside of time and space. I am endless.<br />

When there seems to be no hope, and you hold on too tightly,<br />

fighting the course of your life – I still float. I am your sacred<br />

promise that everything you are and everything you do serves<br />

a greater purpose. You were created to matter.”<br />

Feel the words in your body and your spirit. Feel them filling<br />

your heart and every part of your being. Now imagine:<br />

What would life be like for you, if you’d relinquish control in the<br />

areas you tightly hold onto, and just floated with ease like on the<br />

Azure river? What would you change and what would you do<br />

differently?<br />

“See how easy life unfolds when you remember me?”,<br />

whispers the river as it gently bends and turns once more.<br />

This is your Azure River – the current of your life. Stay as long<br />

as you like and return as often as you need. And if you are<br />

ready to leave let the river wash you ashore and walk back<br />

through the trees into your body, in your room.<br />

COALESCENCE<br />

It was nearly 10 years ago now that I asked a question going<br />

into a deep channelling state. I can no longer remember the<br />

question, but the answer is as clear now as it was at the time:<br />

A young woman stands on the deck of a ship. Behind her is chaos<br />

and turmoil as the land she is leaving sinks beneath the waves. To<br />

either side of her are six more ships each on a divergent path,<br />

each sailing away from each other, each bound for a different<br />

land and a new beginning. The grief is palpable, but so too is the<br />

hope and determination in her eyes as she breathes into the pain.<br />

Looking at her hands, she can see the gifts she is carrying for the<br />

future of humanity. She closes her eyes and lets the sounds of<br />

destruction behind her fade into the scent of the ocean ahead of<br />

her.<br />

I believe we are living now in an age of fusion. A new age of<br />

coalescence of the wisdoms separated at the sinking of<br />

Atlantis.<br />

I’ve been watching for years now and everywhere I look I see<br />

more and more people accessing and then bringing together<br />

knowledge and information garnered from cultures across the<br />

globe.<br />

Every time we tap into ancient wisdom within an experience,<br />

accessing deep healing and transformational energy, we<br />

unconsciously integrate these on a cellular level. Within every<br />

individual, these combinations create new links which feed into<br />

the collective consciousness, raising and increasing access to<br />

them exponentially.<br />

Even if we look only at the world of wellbeing and healing, we<br />

can see how all the various forms of ‘self-care’ we’ve accessed<br />

over the years are beginning to coalesce in us and feed into what<br />

we bring to the world. Every Thai Massage had, Hawaiian<br />

Ho’oponopono spoken, Proto-Celtic song sung, Yoga practice<br />

held, Reiki healing given and received, piece of Aboriginal<br />

artwork seen, rune stone held, meditation gone into, crystal<br />

resonated with, barefoot Shinrin Yoku taken, Spirit Guide met<br />

with… inform our cellular make up and vibrate within what we<br />

offer into the collective consciousness simply by our existing and<br />

having experienced them.<br />

We are all one, and as we exist as a cell within the matrix of this<br />

world, so too our individual cellular make-up contributes into the<br />

whole.<br />

This fusion is happening in the manifest world as well as on an<br />

unconscious level. If we look around, if we use our hearts and<br />

our senses, we can see so many offerings coming into the world<br />

right now that are dissolving the lines between modalities, that<br />

are integrating the wisdoms of different practices into single<br />

units, that are drawing on ancient practices from across the<br />

world to create something deeper and which resonates at a<br />

higher frequency.<br />

And it’s not just happening within the world of healing and<br />

wellbeing either, we can see it in the ideas within regenerative<br />

farming, collective management, radical activism, wild schooling,<br />

working with emergent change… it really is everywhere.<br />

We are pulling together these seven ships once more.<br />

Looking at your hands can you see the gifts you are carrying that<br />

are a part of this great change, this great offering to humanity?<br />

A compelling story of a young mother, happy in her<br />

first marital home, running her successful dance school.<br />

Everything changed one fateful night; following a<br />

severe car accident, her husband developed paranoid<br />

schizophrenia. A year of desperation, misery attempted<br />

murder, a shooting and a suicide followed.<br />

A second husband with rage issues, led to physical<br />

abuse of her son and a life of fear. Follow her fight to<br />

protect her children and explore the horrors they faced<br />

growing up. Years remaining silent for fear of reprisal<br />

and the guilt carried from seeing the effect it had on<br />

her children.<br />

Another near fatal car accident and the unexplained<br />

miracle rescue. An illness that drained her body, stole<br />

I spent most of my working life as a professional dance instructor, designing and<br />

producing theatrical shows for children. When a severe back injury resulting<br />

from a car crash forced me into early retirement, I started looking for new ways<br />

to be creative and find a new outlet in life to express myself. Writing filled this<br />

void and allowed me to clarify, accept and eventually script what has happened<br />

to me over the years, which makes for a compelling and at times, difficult read.<br />

For a very long time I tried to come to terms with what I have been through and<br />

how it has affected both me and my family. Having finished this book, I am now<br />

able to look back and reflect on my life in a way I never thought possible. The<br />

sheer number and variety of traumas I have experienced is almost<br />

incomprehensible and the horrors of some of the situations are a lot to take onboard.<br />

These have shaped me into the woman I am today.<br />

a ruined career, a lengthy lawsuit, a terrible marriage, an abusive husband,<br />

Empaths can sense and feel the emotions, thoughts, and energies<br />

of others, as well as the vibrations of the environment. They are<br />

often compassionate, intuitive, and creative, but may also struggle<br />

with overwhelm, fatigue, and stress, as they absorb the negativity<br />

and pain of others.<br />

Do you recognise any of these traits in yourself?<br />

Have you ever felt someone else’s pain, physically or emotionally.<br />

Do you find it hard to set healthy boundaries or say no to toxic<br />

people and be able to walk away from toxic situations?<br />

If you are an empath, you are open to being affected by traumatic<br />

events that occur on the other side of the world, without knowing<br />

why you are feeling anxious, stressed, fatigued, or depressed…<br />

If you are an Empath and don’t know how to energetically protect<br />

yourself, you will be out of balance and when this happens, you will<br />

find it difficult to cope with the fluctuations of emotional highs and<br />

lows.<br />

The great advantages of being an Empath who is energetically in<br />

balance, is that they can provide emotional support for others and<br />

have deep meaningful relationships. They will have a strong sense<br />

of compassion towards all living creatures. Intuitively, they will<br />

know when someone needs their support, when someone is good<br />

for them or when someone is lying to them. This doesn’t mean that<br />

they will confront the liar, it just means that they are totally aware<br />

of other energetic stresses around them.<br />

Before I became aware that I was an Empath, I really did struggle<br />

to understand why I felt pain in my joints from someone walking<br />

past me, why I became overwhelmed with grief when I made eye<br />

contact with someone sitting on a bench, and why I woke up with<br />

anxiety and fear in my heart.<br />

I later discovered that I was too open, my energy fields were not<br />

protected, and was absorbing outside energies like a sponge and<br />

suddenly making them personal.<br />

I have since learned how to support and protect myself, so I am not<br />

‘taken down’ by external energies. I highly recommend that you<br />

consider introducing support and protection rituals too.<br />

Here are some that may help you.<br />

Set healthy boundaries.<br />

Try a shamanic ritual to partner with a spirit power animal. Just sit<br />

in a quiet place and light a candle. Ask a power animal to join you<br />

and support you in creating healthy boundaries. A particular<br />

favourite of mine is skunk, for obvious reasons, people respect the<br />

space around a skunk.<br />

Walk away from toxic people and situations.<br />

Best form of protection is preparation and defence. If you are<br />

surrounded by toxic people or situations, look at doing cord cutting<br />

rituals at night before you sleep. As you lie in your bed, request<br />

support from an archangel or an ascended master who you<br />

connect with, and ask them to help you to cut the cords from all<br />

toxic people and situations. You may see a sword or wing cutting<br />

through these cords and sealing each one as they do.<br />

Practice meditation.<br />

Meditation helps to relax your mind and body, taking you out of<br />

constant defence and reactive mode. Check out our Love 2<br />

will work well with Empaths are Atlantean Messages, Space<br />

Use crystals to cleanse and balance your aura and chakras.<br />

Lapis Lazuli enhances intuition, wisdom, and<br />

communication. It can help you to express your feelings<br />

and thoughts clearly, and avoid being influenced by others’<br />

opinions.<br />

Black Tourmaline is one of the strongest crystals for<br />

empaths. It can shield your aura from electromagnetic<br />

pollution and psychic attacks. It can also transmute dark<br />

energy into light.<br />

Amethyst can enhance your intuition, clear your mind, and<br />

calm your emotions. It will form a protection field around<br />

you and block unwanted influences.<br />

Labradorite a beautiful stone that displays flashes of colour.<br />

It can help empaths to balance their energy and protect<br />

their aura from energy leaks.<br />

Frankincense is great for keeping that divine connection<br />

and guidance.<br />

Myrrh to keep you grounded, helping you to be more<br />

present and providing you with clear direction.<br />

Other shamanic rituals.<br />

Smudging around your space with any kind of protection<br />

blends. I use Sage, Palo Santo, Sweetgrass, Cinnamon,<br />

Rosemary. Also burning a bay leaf in your home will relieve<br />

anxiety and cleanse the space.<br />

Drumming or Tibetan bells/chimes – a great way to clear<br />

the space around you and lift the vibrations.<br />

Shamanic journeying to connect with your spirit guides and<br />

heal your soul.<br />

One or a combination of the options listed above will help you to<br />

protect yourself against the overwhelming feelings that can result<br />

from being an empath and allow you to use this talent in a more<br />

productive and beneficial way.<br />

Equally, these options are great for all of us.<br />

By following the advice, you will be able to tap into your empathic<br />

abilities because you will be protected and feel relaxed enough to<br />

tune in to your wonderful gifts.<br />
