The driving force behind a number of
successful businesses has been a desire
to find a high-quality product for a
personal need.
When Lara Henderson was pregnant
with her first child in 2018, she was both
surprised and frustrated by the lack of
natural, high-quality pregnancy-specific
body products available, especially
considering that the skin undergoes
significant changes during this time and
requires extra support.
Now with two beautiful children, her early
search has become a thriving business:
PURE MAMA; specialising in pregnancy
skincare.

"After tirelessly searching for the right
products, I was not only overwhelmed
with conflicting information on the
safety of ingredients but was shocked
by the amount of synthetic ingredients
and fragrances that were been used,”
she says.
“This coupled with an outdated market
landscape that failed to acknowledge the
complexity of motherhood, especially
around the physical, psychological and
emotional changes women go through,

led me to start change in the pregnancy
skincare industry.
“It was clear that design led, effective
products targeting modern mothers
did not exist and it was my calling to do
something about it.
"My intention is not only to support
women on their journey with high-quality
skincare they can trust, but to encourage
women to take a moment to connect
with their bodies throughout pregnancy."
Pure Mama has evolved naturally and
organically. The range now encompasses
everything from the hero Belly Oil to a
Magnesium Body Rub, Bump
Scrub and Nipple Butter.
“Our hero product is our
Belly Oil and we recently
launched Deluxe 10ml
minis of this product that
have been quite the hit.
“Our most recent product
is the Magnesium Body
Rub, the first of its kind
in this space. It’s been
incredibly popular and is
expertly formulated using
both Magnesium & SyriCalm (a natural
skin anti-inflammatory) to help ease
discomfort, promote muscle relaxation,
and encourage skin suppleness during the
second and third trimester of pregnancy
(or anytime!).”
With plans and development underway
to launch four new products later this
year, Lara is passionate about continuing
to support women through all phases of
their pregnancies and beyond.
“There's no denying it: pregnancy is a
roller coaster of emotions, thoughts,
and feelings. One minute, you are so
overwhelmed with joy and excitement,
the next, you are wondering how
you are going to get through the day.
While no two pregnancy journeys are
the same, this conflict of emotions is
something that unifies us all. We call it the
#pregnancyparadox.
