The Macallan Fine & Rare
The Macallan Fine & Rare is an unrivalled collection of 39 vintage Macallans from 1926 to
1975.
Launched in 2002, the vision for Fine & Rare was simple: identify the very best of The
Macallan’s oldest maturing stock and launch the finest Macallan range. The Macallan
Whisky Maker and his team assessed over 500 casks and their selection revealed an
extraordinary diversity of colour, aroma and flavour.
The Macallan Vintage 1946, 56 years old
Rich lemon citrus nose with strong peat smoke and hints of ginger spices and apple
fruits.
Good lemon to the palate with mature wood and peat smoke with lingering peat and
wood smoke finish
The Macallan Vintage 1959, 43 years old
The nose reveals wood shavings, dried fruits with spice and light malted barley.
The taste is of dry wood at first, then citrus and dried fruits, leaving a finish of spices
and tannic oak.
The Macallan Vintage 1966, 35 years old
The whisky is alive on the nose with aromas of cloves, ginger resins and prunes.
Hints of lighter estery notes are complex with a treacle toffee nose, similar to sherry
fruitcake.
The palate is massively spicy and prune-like, balanced with light estery fruits and
toffee The lingering finish gives flavours of clove spices and dried fruits
The Macallan Vintage 1967, 35 years old
Massive fruits on the nose – an almost parma violet/floral character to the fore.
The taste is of orange zest with hints of spice and wood. The long, fruity and floral
finish has a late burst of wood.
The Macallan Vintage 1969, 32 years old
Forward wood, nuts and spices with a late dried fruit aroma.
Big, rounded taste and very woody, with a wood, fruit and clove-like spice finish.
The Macallan Vintage 1971, 30 years old
On the nose there are aromas of Parma violet sweets with light fruits and citrus
orange.
The taste is fruity and orangey with a light oiliness and malty cereal note. The finish

The Macallan Vintage 1974, 30 years old
The nose is an assortment of rich chocolate, oranges, raisins, custard, sandalwood,
spices and a hint of spice.
This develops into an abundance of wood spices, blackcurrant, softer citrus fruit and
a touch of peat while finishing with lingering fruits and spices.
All spirits are sold in measures of 25ml or multiples thereof
