The Macallan Fine & Rare<br />
The Macallan Fine & Rare is an unrivalled collection of 39 vintage Macallans from 1926 to<br />
1975.<br />
Launched in 2002, <strong>the</strong> vision for Fine & Rare was simple: identify <strong>the</strong> very best of The<br />
Macallan’s oldest maturing stock and launch <strong>the</strong> finest Macallan range. The Macallan<br />
Whisky Maker and his team assessed over 500 casks and <strong>the</strong>ir selection revealed an<br />
extraordinary diversity of colour, aroma and flavour.<br />
The Macallan Vintage 1946, 56 years old<br />
Rich lemon citrus nose with strong peat smoke and hints of ginger spices and apple<br />
fruits.<br />
Good lemon to <strong>the</strong> palate with mature wood and peat smoke with lingering peat and<br />
wood smoke finish<br />
The Macallan Vintage 1959, 43 years old<br />
The nose reveals wood shavings, dried fruits with spice and light malted barley.<br />
The taste is of dry wood at first, <strong>the</strong>n citrus and dried fruits, leaving a finish of spices<br />
and tannic oak.<br />
The Macallan Vintage 1966, 35 years old<br />
The whisky is alive on <strong>the</strong> nose with aromas of cloves, ginger resins and prunes.<br />
Hints of lighter estery notes are complex with a treacle toffee nose, similar to sherry<br />
fruitcake.<br />
The palate is massively spicy and prune-like, balanced with light estery fruits and<br />
toffee The lingering finish gives flavours of clove spices and dried fruits<br />
The Macallan Vintage 1967, 35 years old<br />
Massive fruits on <strong>the</strong> nose – an almost parma violet/floral character to <strong>the</strong> fore.<br />
The taste is of orange zest with hints of spice and wood. The long, fruity and floral<br />
finish has a late burst of wood.<br />
The Macallan Vintage 1969, 32 years old<br />
Forward wood, nuts and spices with a late dried fruit aroma.<br />
Big, rounded taste and very woody, with a wood, fruit and clove-like spice finish.<br />
The Macallan Vintage 1971, 30 years old<br />
On <strong>the</strong> nose <strong>the</strong>re are aromas of Parma violet sweets with light fruits and citrus<br />
orange.<br />
The taste is fruity and orangey with a light oiliness and malty cereal note. The finish<br />

The Macallan Vintage 1974, 30 years old<br />
The nose is an assortment of rich chocolate, oranges, raisins, custard, sandalwood,<br />
spices and a hint of spice.<br />
This develops into an abundance of wood spices, blackcurrant, softer citrus fruit and<br />
a touch of peat while finishing with lingering fruits and spices.<br />
