Boisdale 836 Ardberg Single cask Islay, distillery bottling for Verdier in Italy 1 of 246 bottles Of the many 72 cask Ardberg has released this is one of the finest .Bottled from a single re fill for Italy in 2003 , over half the cask were returned to the distillery due to legal issues after the sale of Glenmorangie in 2004. At the distillery almost all the remaining bottles were used in tasting and such research. this remains, as a result one of the rarest of all Ardberg bottling. The whisky itself is quite simply stunning the nose is rich with layers of dense oily phenols, tropical and green fruits, with an unusual distinctive medical streak running through it. On the palate the ancient peated malt detonates and after 31 years still come through clean and balanced. The familiar Ardberg harmony is here in spades, floral, citrus character on the finish and immense simmering, sinewy creosols and tar all over the mid palate .the medicinal aspect is now concentrated iodine .An amazing Ardberg and a stunning drink that totally challenges and beguiles the senses. 708 Auchentoshan 10yrs Lowlands, distillery bottling Auchentoshan is Gaelic for “corner of the field”. The nose is scenty with lemon grass and vanilla. The palate is light, soft, oily, marshmallow-like. Good flavour development. Rounded finish. 745 Auchentoshan Three Wood Lowlands, distillery bottling Sweet, butterscotch with prunes and custard. Jaffa cake and apricots with Christmas cake and roasted almonds. The Three Wood expression is matured in three different casks – American bourbon wood, Spanish oloroso sherry then finished in Pedro Ximenez casks. 641 Aultmore 1986 Speyside, bottled by Signatory Pale gold colour .Nose Rich, fresh aroma with a hint of peat, sweetness and mash. Body Medium to firm. Palate Mellow and well-balanced. Some light fruitiness. Finish Long. Smooth, warming and quite dry 741 Aultmore 1989 Speyside, bottled by Signatory Dry, herbal, spicy, oaky. Before dinner. 642 Balblair 10yrs Northern Highlands, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail Light bodied and golden with a slightly medicinal nose. 644 Balmenach 12yrs Speyside, distillery bottling A complicated, full-bodied malt, best suited as an after-dinner dram. 805 Balmenach 89 Speyside, distillery bottling Balmenach 89 has a lively, vanilla, cut grass, lemons, hint of heather blossom nose, a palate of smooth and coating, citrus fruits, malt and trace of smouldering heather smoke. Body: Smooth. Finish: Spicy and refreshing. 685 Balvenie 10yrs Speyside, distillery bottling Boisdale Wonderful bouquet of honey and mint and a hint of old raisins. Sweet and smooth, it flows gently through your mouth. An excellent soft malt – one of the most highly regarded by the experts. 645 Balvenie Signature 12yrs Speyside, distillery bottling Rich and malty on the nose, with characteristically insinuating notes of spice, dried fruits, vanilla and honey. Becoming increasingly floral, with soft toffee and a hint of sweet Sherry as it warms in the glass.Full-bodied on the palate, yet with classic Balvenie smoothness and grace. Vanilla, honey, Sherried cinnamon, nutmeg and a whiff of smoke merge beautifully. The finish is long with spicy oak. A great whisky. David Stewart has performed his magic once again! 675 Balvenie 21yrs Port Wood Speyside, distillery bottling The nose is rich, creamy and malty. The maltiness becomes creamy, then honeyed, than develops raisiny notes (Scottish balck bun) and nutty dryness. A inviting, seductive dryness. The finish is bitter black chocolate.. 646 Benrinnes 15yrs Speyside, distillery bottling An exquisite and powerful nose. A bittersweet taste with sherry dryness and oaky smoke and a long, dry finish. Quite similar to the Macallan style. 732 Benromach Organic Speyside, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail 648 Benromach 1982 Speyside, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail Fruity – pear drops with underlying maltiness on the nose. The body is powerful but smooth whilst the palate is sweet and fruity initially, with malt and oak notes developing. 649 Bladnoch 10yrs Lowlands, distillery bottling Light to medium bodied with a fragrant, lemony aroma and a gentle, unassertive flavour with fruity tones. 650 Blair Athol 12yrs Southern Highlands, distillery bottling The distillery has always insisted on using Orkney peat, preferred for its young character. A dry, sharp nose, becoming sweeter and creamier with some light caramel and heathery overtones. 653 Bowmore Darkest 15yrs Islay, distillery bottling The sherry aroma is fantastic, together with almonds and mature oak. The peaty notes become an excellent foil to the fruity flavours and do not allow the sherry to totally dominate. Hints of the sea drift in given a little time in the glass. Soft over ripe dark grapes flood the palate like an incoming tide. It’s rich, but not over the top, due to the wonderful heather fire smoky flavour you will find on the back palate.
