50TH WORKSHOP MEETING OF HEADS OF NPOs<br />

The 50th Workshop Meeting (WSM) of Heads of<br />

National <strong>Productivity</strong> <strong>Organization</strong> (NPOs) was held<br />

in Manila, the Philippines, 20–22 October <strong>2009</strong>. It<br />

was attended by 37 NPO and Agriculture delegates<br />

from 19 member countries, 18 advisers from nine<br />

member countries, and two observers representing the<br />

Colombo Plan Secretariat and <strong>Productivity</strong> SA, South<br />

Africa. President of the Development Academy of<br />

the Philippines (DAP) and NPO Head of the Philippines<br />

Antonio D. Kalaw, Jr. delivered the welcome<br />

address, followed by the opening address and keynote<br />

address by Deputy Director-General of the National<br />

Economic and Development Authority and APO<br />

Director for the Philippines Margarita R. Songco and<br />

Executive Secretary Eduardo R. Ermita, respectively.<br />

Welcome Remarks<br />

President of the DAP and NPO Head of the Philippines<br />

Antonio D. Kalaw, Jr. welcomed all delegates,<br />

advisers, and observers despite the adverse weather<br />

and the typhoons that had wreaked havoc in the<br />

country recently. He said that it was a privilege and<br />

honor for the Philippines, particularly for the DAP,<br />

to host yet another important event for the APO in<br />

the year after the 5th Eco-Products International Fair<br />
