In FY 20<strong>11</strong>, <strong>TCS</strong>-Maitree’s rural initiative at Nainar,<br />
in Tamil Nadu India, reached more than 140<br />
beneficiaries. Training in screen printing and job<br />
referrals for house-keeping and helped to<br />
increase the women’s income from Rs. 600 to<br />
Rs. 1500<br />
Computer Literacy Training and Personality<br />
Development Programmes were conducted at<br />
Padmapur, Odisha and Challera, Delhi. In FY 20<strong>11</strong>,<br />
<strong>TCS</strong> reached 240 villagers in Padmapur, Odisha<br />
In the domain of education & skills development, <strong>TCS</strong> Maitree globally reaches over 65<br />
institutes in China, Ecuador, India, South Africa and UK. In FY 20<strong>11</strong>, 10,225 children were<br />
reached by over 6,610 <strong>TCS</strong> volunteers and families.<br />
Client partnerships- <strong>TCS</strong>-Yale<br />
Morgan Stanley<br />
In FY 20<strong>11</strong> <strong>TCS</strong> partnered with its client Morgan<br />
Stanley and Yale School of Management to<br />
promote Social Entrepreneurship. Core<br />
Competencies of <strong>TCS</strong>, Morgan Stanley and Yale<br />
School of Management were leveraged<br />
effectively to bring about societal transformation<br />
in multiple areas like rural entrepreneurship<br />
development, eco-tourism, sale and marketing of<br />
eco friendly products, women’s empowerment, employment generation and micro-financing.<br />
Students from Yale analysed the work being done by various social entrepreneurs in India. To<br />
identify their challenges and obstacles faced by the organization and assisted in developing<br />
potential solutions. As a follow-up measure, <strong>TCS</strong> volunteers continue to work with the social<br />
entrepreneurs identified.<br />
Health Initiatives<br />
Initiatives in India<br />
<strong>TCS</strong> also organized a School Health Education Programme to educate students on topics such<br />
as health, hygiene and personal care. Health Camps and Awareness programmes such as eye<br />
and dental camps, camps on women health awareness, etc. were also conducted in FY 20<strong>11</strong>.<br />
<strong>TCS</strong> organized fundraising through walks and other events in support of health related causes<br />
such as Cancer etc. In FY 20<strong>11</strong>, <strong>TCS</strong> organised 24 Blood Donation drives. A total of 3,498<br />
associates participated in these camps.<br />
