Initiatives in North America<br />
<strong>TCS</strong> has supported various health-related causes such as the<br />
Walk for Hope which is in support of cancer research and<br />
cure. In FY 20<strong>11</strong>, <strong>TCS</strong> in support of the American Diabetes<br />
Association organized the Boston, New York and Chicago<br />
marathons. 33 <strong>TCS</strong> marathon runners raised about $14,000<br />
for the organization. <strong>TCS</strong> associates also participated in the<br />
Heart Walk for American Heart Association, the March of<br />
Dimes in support of healthy mothers and healthy babies<br />
and Making Strides against Breast Cancer.<br />
<strong>TCS</strong> volunteers have supported the Salvation Army by<br />
organizing food and clothes drives at their local community<br />
centers. In addition, <strong>TCS</strong> associates also volunteer at old age<br />
and nursing homes. In FY 20<strong>11</strong>, 10% of <strong>TCS</strong> associates in<br />
North America participated in various community<br />
engagement initiatives.<br />
Initiatives in UK & Europe<br />
From April <strong>2010</strong> to January 20<strong>11</strong>, a match funding scheme<br />
was initiated in UK and Europe through which a total of<br />
£66k was donated to charities. <strong>TCS</strong> raises funds through<br />
marathons and fun runs, cricket tournaments as well as<br />
through donations and general volunteering.<br />
In October <strong>2010</strong>, <strong>TCS</strong> Europe initiated fundraising and<br />
awareness activities for Multiple Sclerosis and Breast Cancer.<br />
Today is a Good Day, <strong>TCS</strong>’ flagship health programme was<br />
formally launched on 3rd March <strong>2010</strong>, which is also the<br />
Founder’s Day for <strong>Tata</strong> group. The initiative was launched in<br />
UK and in FY 20<strong>11</strong> 12 walks were organized to promote<br />
healthy lifestyles. <strong>TCS</strong> also conducted employee fundraising<br />
for the Institute of Cancer Research, Leukemia and<br />
Lymphoma Research, Myeloma UK, Macmillan Cancer<br />
Support and Anthony Nolan bone marrow donation. The<br />
programme has also supported local hospitals and<br />
hospices.<br />
In FY 20<strong>11</strong>, a bone marrow donation registration awareness<br />
event was conducted at <strong>TCS</strong> London offices which resulted<br />
in 19 potential life saving donors. The charity with support from <strong>TCS</strong> is also working to prevent late<br />
diagnosis of cancer and aims at saving 27,000 lives each year in UK through awareness of the disease.<br />
Through its TIAGD programme, <strong>TCS</strong> encouraged 10 major <strong>Tata</strong> Steel sites in UK to have Macmillan<br />
information units for a day. <strong>TCS</strong> offices in UK held cancer awareness days in association with Macmillan<br />
Cancer Support.<br />
Community Health Initiatives in UK have focused on Cancer as a major health concern. Oganisations<br />
such as the British and Irish Heart Foundations, National Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children,<br />
Leonard Cheshire Disability for people with learning and physical disabilities, Air Ambulance, Royal<br />
British Legion have also been supported.<br />
