Two friends shared a moment together
after the race.
Championship
Season
1991 was a great year
for the Women's Cross-
Country team. Because
of budget cuts, the team
conducted tryouts and
sixteen talented women
were chosen. All of the
team members run a 5K
race. Their home meets
took place at Carpenter
State Park and they were
in the North Atlantic
Conference. This division
goes as far north as
Maine but most regular
132 Women's Cross-Country
meets were held closer to
home. Other meets, such
as conference championships,
can be farther
away, and this year's
team won it all, tying
with Boston University.
Maggie Leffler is a
member of the team. She
really enjoys being a
member and stresses
how important teamwork
is. The difference
between Cross-Country
and Track, she explains,
is that Cross-Country is
over land as opposed to
a set place. Therefore,
hills and other obstacles
are involved. "It's more
interesting," said Leffler.
Congratulations on a
successful year and a repeat
performance is anticipated
for next year.
