Roster: Deron Brown (1), Bruce Sh<strong>at</strong>el (3), Mike Gomez (4), Dave Osbourne (5), Brian Wallace (6), Tripp Keister (7), Bill Di Ienno (8), Tom Lafferty (9), M<strong>at</strong>t Schmidt (10), The Baseball Team had an extraordinary season. The Hens won <strong>the</strong> ECAC Championship and also qualified for <strong>the</strong> NCAA Tournament for <strong>the</strong> first time since 1983. The Hens clinched a spot in <strong>the</strong> NCAA Tournament by winning <strong>the</strong> East Coast Athletic Conference. In <strong>the</strong> ECAC play-<strong>of</strong>fs <strong>the</strong> Hens faced St. Francis College, <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Hartford, <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Vermont, and Iona <strong>University</strong>, defe<strong>at</strong>ing <strong>the</strong>m all. The Hens went to <strong>the</strong> NCAA Tournament and played well, but <strong>the</strong>y Brian M<strong>at</strong>son (11), Bob Wooddruff (12), Bruce Hannah (14), Brian Lesher (15), Troy O'Neal (16), Jason Pierson (17), Steve Franzini (18), Jamie Wilson (19), Scott Bechtold (20), were defe<strong>at</strong>ed in <strong>the</strong>ir first game. The overall record for this season <strong>was</strong> 38-13. The Hens also played in <strong>the</strong> Liberty Bell Classic which <strong>was</strong> played <strong>at</strong> Veterans Stadium, home <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Philadelphia Phillies. In <strong>the</strong> tournament <strong>the</strong> Hens faced Pennsylvania and Villanova. The Hens first played Pennsylvania and won, 8-7, after 11 innings <strong>of</strong> play. Then <strong>the</strong> Hens faced Villanova for <strong>the</strong> Liberty Bell Title. They crushed Villanova 6-2 and received <strong>the</strong> honor <strong>of</strong> taking home <strong>the</strong> Lib- Gregg Hammond (21), Curt Schnur (22), Aaron Walter (23), Chris Bruun (29), Mark Stein (30), Rod Blessy, E<strong>than</strong> Jac, John Laznik, Pete Szczerba, Bob Hannah — Head Coach erty Bell Classic Championship trophy. The players also earned many honors throughout <strong>the</strong> season. All <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> following were selected as NAC players <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> week: Jason Pierson, Brian Wallace, and Tripp Keister. Brian Lesher <strong>was</strong> chosen <strong>the</strong> MVP <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Liberty Bell Classic. <strong>Delaware</strong> players had a conference with Coach Bob Hannah to try to figure out <strong>the</strong> best str<strong>at</strong>egy. 174 Baseball Troy O'Neal hit <strong>the</strong> ball and drove in ano<strong>the</strong>r run. Brian Wallace threw <strong>the</strong> ball to first base in order to get <strong>the</strong> runner out.
