<strong>Delaware</strong>'s<br />

Olympians<br />

The university has a glp<strong>at</strong>f li!|k<br />

to <strong>the</strong> world <strong>of</strong> ice sk<strong>at</strong>ing. Several<br />

well known teams train <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Blue Ice Arena and are coached<br />

by Ron Ludington, a former<br />

Olympic sk<strong>at</strong>er. Calla Urbanski<br />

and Rocky Marval were <strong>the</strong> U.S.<br />

N<strong>at</strong>ional Champions in 1992 and<br />

also represented <strong>the</strong> U.S. <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Olympics in Albertville, France.<br />

This pair also trained <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> university.<br />

Although <strong>the</strong>y did not win<br />

a medal, <strong>the</strong>y stole everyone's<br />

hearts as being America's Blue<br />

Collar Sk<strong>at</strong>ers. The pair placed a<br />

respectable seventh <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> Olympics.<br />

When asked wh<strong>at</strong> it <strong>was</strong> like to<br />

be in <strong>the</strong> Olympics, Marval said,<br />

"Take <strong>the</strong> biggest adrenalin rush<br />

you know and times th<strong>at</strong> by ten."<br />

famous around <strong>the</strong> country. They<br />

appeared on talk shows and <strong>at</strong> a<br />

Welcome Home show <strong>the</strong>y performed<br />

to a literal standing room<br />

only crowd.<br />

The pairs teams <strong>of</strong> Elaine Asanakis<br />

and Mark Naylor and Min<br />

and Ho Jung also trained <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

university. These teams both<br />

sk<strong>at</strong>e for o<strong>the</strong>r countries and were<br />

scheduled to compete in <strong>the</strong><br />

Olympics but were unable. Naylor<br />

and Asanakis were supposed<br />

to sk<strong>at</strong>e for Greece (Asanakis's f<strong>at</strong>her<br />

is from Greece) <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> Olympics,<br />

but <strong>the</strong>y did get to sk<strong>at</strong>e <strong>at</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> World Championship for<br />

Greece. The Jungs are members<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 1992 Korean World Team.<br />

They also didn't compete <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Olympics but did <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> World.<br />
