Reinvent your…you fill in the blank! Right
now, I think just about everyone is feeling
the need to reinvent themselves in a
positive way, and I’m a true believer that
Cookie Lee gives you lots of options to do
just that!
Reinvent is our theme for 2009, and by
now, if you’ve seen the Spring/Summer
2009 Catalog or attended Fashion
Week, you’ve seen that we’ve put the
word into practice by bringing Cookie
Lee to a whole new fashionable level!
This season, the catalog itself is your
“style guide” and reads like a fashion
magazine that gives tips on the latest
looks and how to wear them. Your
customers will see more than ever
that Cookie Lee is at the forefront of
fashion and totally on trend. Plus,
everybody is looking for value, and
the new jewelry screams “value”
with innovative versatility and great
price points!
But as the headline suggests, we’re
looking at reinvention from all
different angles! You can start by
reinventing your style, but you
don’t have to stop there. You can
reinvent your life, your success and
your recruiting by re-evaluating
your definition of a “career” and
rethinking the way you can earn
income for your family. We’ve heard
story after success story, including
Executive Director III Mine Veral-
Burk (see pg. 28), of Consultants
who suddenly had the responsibility
to support their whole family due to
a layoff or family crisis and DID IT
with their Cookie Lee business! You may not be in a
desperate situation, but you can use the extra income
to give yourself financial security and a strong future.
The key is that you have to believe that you have what it
takes to reinvent yourself. You have something valuable
to offer women across the country, but you have to
make the opportunity relevant to them and you have
to be passionate about the jewelry. I recently spoke
to students at the University of Southern California
(USC) about being an entrepreneur and the lessons I’ve
learned along the way, so let me share a few with you:
1. You have to have a goal that is compelling enough to
get you off the sofa each day to work your business.
2. You have to be passionate about what you do—it
needs to get you excited!
3. You can’t be afraid to work hard for something you
truly believe in.
4. You have to set your own priorities and not work
according to someone else’s. Make a decision for
yourself about what’s most important to you.
5. You have to be resourceful and find a way to get
around the challenges—don’t let them stop you or
get you down.
6. Don’t listen to negativity.
7. Find something to set you apart and give you a
competitive edge.
8. Capitalize on the areas of your business that you love
the most, but still work on all the others.
As an entrepreneur, you have the freedom to make
your business whatever you want it to be. Use the tools
available to you this season to reinvent how you look at
selling, recruiting, home shows, your style, your business
and ultimately, your life. I am so excited about this new
season and can’t wait to hear your success stories!
