King to try my success<br />

have a little Box <strong>of</strong> such specimens as I<br />

am sure he never found & 1 believe never<br />

come to England before I sent them ye<br />

deliver to his majesty or if thee hath<br />

not freedom to do it pray deliver it to<br />

Friend that my Repeated Solicitations have<br />

not been in Vain for this Day T received<br />

Certain Tntilligence from our Gracious<br />

King that He had appointed thee His Botanist<br />

with a Salary <strong>of</strong> Fifty pounds a year SC in<br />

Fursuance there<strong>of</strong>f I received the First<br />

hzlf years payment <strong>of</strong> thy Salary Being<br />

twenty five pounds<br />

I saw the Box <strong>of</strong> plants opened for the<br />

king they are in Good Order 8c a fine Col-<br />

lection as is TbTine but there is some formality<br />

to Deliver the Kings Box which will go to Kew<br />

Gardens where all Vegetables are treated with<br />

the utmost Care & all that they can do to<br />

bring them to perfection in our climate<br />

the Kings specimens will. be caref’ully delivered<br />
