SHIPPING AND SHIP MANAGEMENT
The Ingrid Jakobsen was one of three tankers purchased from Jens Jakobsen A/S in 2006.
erria: a one-stop-shop
in global shipping
Erria A/S is the name of the umbrella
that contains a number of Danish
companies with relations to shipping.
Some years ago they were gathered
under the one umbrella, selling a
number of services to a variety of
customers.
“We say that Erria is a one-stop-shop. We
can provide a number of services needed
in modern shipping, ranging from drawing
up the first lines on a new ship to the
actual commercial management after delivery.
Every kind of service in between these
two points can be delivered from Erria
offices in several countries”, says Henrik
Andersen, CEO of Erria.
“We could say that what we have is what
is usually available in a bigger shipping
company, but the difference is that we sell
each service from the house to whoever
knocks on our door needing help”, says
Henrik Andersen.
The umbrella Erria contains a number
of companies purchased by Erria, the
former Fabricius Shipping in Marstal. The
commercial company in the group is Ibex
Maritime, situated in Istanbul and headed
by Danish Kenneth Madsen. The techni-
cal side is the former BR Marine Consult,
which also was sold into Erria and still
headed by Torben Ravn. The latest addition
to Erria is the purchase of the Vietnamese
company Pacific Tanker Shipping.
Originally, Fabri cius Shipping was a shipowning
company founded by captain Jan
Fabricius, but the company developed into
a combination of shipown-
ing and management
of tonnage from other
companies. The company
still has this kind
of business, but has
made changes when it
comes to chemical tankers
of sizes up to 12,000
DWT. In this particular
segment Erria is a strong
player as shipowner and
Henrik Andersen,
CEO of
Erria.
has taken the consequences of this decision
by giving notice to several out-house customers
with chemical tankers.
“We have asked some owners of chemical
tankers to find a new manager for the
ships. There are several reasons for this
step. One of them is our commitment in
the market to our own ships, but also we
want to be without attachments in our
commercial work in the market”, explains
Henrik Andersen.
The chemical tanker segment started by
ordering a newbuilding from one of the
Turkish shipyards in Tuzla some years ago,
with Ibex Maritime as mediator. This step
If we had chosen
the Danish flag we would
be very much restricted
in the use of captains
on board the vessels.
was followed by the purchase of the shipowning
company Jens Jakobsen in Denmark
and the takeover of two chemical
tankers running and a third under outfitting
in China.
The present fleet of chemical tankers is
on 12 tankers and another one on order
from Tuzla, Turkey. The tankers have an
average age of 4.1 years. The major part
