SCARLET ROAD
I New South
i akademia.
tabubelagte virksomhet. Forvent å møte dine fordommer i døra!
Norway prohibited buying of sexual services in 2009, but in many other
countries and regions, it is totally legal. One case in point is New South
Wales in Australia, where the Australian organization Touching Base unite
so-called sex workers and people with disabilities to promote the rights of
both groups. scarlet road portrays one of these sex workers, Rachel
Wotton. With genuine compassion for her fellow human beings, she works
to bring light to the innate need for sexual intimacy, through her activism
and in academia. The film offers close encounters between Rachel and her
clients, and insight into how important sex can be for our ability to have a
good life.
This documentary shows that not everyone involved in prostitution fits
neatly into categories such as abuser/abused, cynic or victim. Carefully
crafted and with a sense of humor, it gives a fresh and unprejudiced view
of the rights and needs of disabled people, as well as of people involved in
prostitution.
