Signs<br />
There are two categories of road signs:<br />
Regulatory signs MUST BE OBEYED Examples:<br />
Stop sign<br />
Speed limit<br />
Advisory signs Provide warnings or Examples:<br />
advice about road Intersection ahead<br />

Regulatory signs<br />
Stop<br />
When you are faced with a Stop sign, you must stop your vehicle at<br />
<strong>the</strong> stop line or, where <strong>the</strong>re is no stop line, as near as practicable to<br />
but before entering <strong>the</strong> intersection. The rule about giving way at a<br />
Stop sign is described (Example 18 and 20 – page 69).<br />
Give Way<br />
When you are faced with a Give Way sign, you must slow down and,<br />
if necessary, stop your vehicle in order to Give Way. The rule about<br />
giving way at a Give Way sign is described (Example 19 – page 69).<br />

Speed Limit<br />
Speed limit signs have a distinctive<br />
red circle with a black number<br />
indicating <strong>the</strong> speed limit in<br />
kilometres per hour. Different speed<br />
limits and where <strong>the</strong>y apply are<br />
described. ><br />
No Right/Left Turn<br />
Normal or illuminated signs may<br />
indicate that ei<strong>the</strong>r right or left turns<br />
are prohibited. These apply when <strong>the</strong><br />
sign is illuminated, or during <strong>the</strong> time<br />
stated on <strong>the</strong> sign, or at all times if<br />
no time is shown.<br />
