Chapter 2: What’s new and changed in Sonic 8.5 Scrollbar enhancements to Workbench Views Sonic Workbench views have been enhanced to provide scroll bars. This feature allows the user to see and input to various controls which are inaccessible on lower resolution displays. For example, the ESB process Overview page contains a lot of information which can now be visualized in many common resolutions. Restart & Reload Simplification After uploading or removing a service, Sonic Workbench prompts you to either restart or reload a container based on the current state of the ESB container. If the container is already in start mode, the Workbench monitors the services deployed on the ESB container. Sonic Workbench decides and prompts you to restart or reload the container based on the nature of the deployed services. For example, the container will be restarted if a Sonic Connect service or a BPEL service is uploaded or already deployed on it. If the container is shutdown, Sonic Workbench prompts you to start it. This information has been added to the Sonic Workbench online help in the Workbench and in its PDF version, Sonic ESB Development Tools guide. Lazy-Load Palette Categories Prior to Sonic Workbench 8.5, the Sonic Workbench took a long time to load items in the palette because they are fetched from the Directory Service. However, many items remain unused and can be loaded in the background, or when their palette category is expanded. Report a Technical Issue Report a Technical Issue is an Eclipse based plug-in to report bugs or enhancements in the product by customers. This feature allows you to attach container logs to the bug report and share the issue with the technical support team at Progress for resolution. The bug report information is shared as an XML file which is useful in passing the required 46 Progress Sonic Update Bulletin 8.5
