� Director of Surgery Ian Civil has been interviewed for the next edition of Metro<br />
magazine in relation to the practice of Dr Samiuela Tonga at ADHB. The<br />
Medical Council imposed restrictions on Dr Tonga’s practising certificate as a<br />
result of complaints by patients before he moved to <strong>Auckland</strong>.<br />
2.4 Internal<br />
� The new car park at <strong>Auckland</strong> City Hospital opened to the public in late<br />
January, involving changes to parking arrangements for some staff with more<br />
staff parking now being available in the existing car park building. A<br />
familiarisation tour of the facility is being organised to coincide with the<br />
completion of the retail component of the development.<br />
� The resignation of Janice Mueller and Taima Campbell was communicated on<br />
8 <strong>February</strong>.<br />
3 <strong>Health</strong>care system report<br />
3.1 System performance<br />
As at 19 December 2011, there have been 422 confirmed and probable cases of<br />
measles notified in <strong>Auckland</strong> since 30 May 2011 and 73 people requiring<br />
hospitalisation. The health system response is unchanged since end November. The<br />
<strong>Auckland</strong> Regional Public <strong>Health</strong> Service (ARPHS) Incident Management Team has<br />
been stood down and is now being managed with an outbreak team:<br />
� Providing public and health professional advice<br />
� Receiving notifications and tracking epidemiology of outbreak<br />
� Responding to enquiries<br />
Media release highlighting a recent prosecution for smoking in an internal area was<br />
picked up by both print and radio. This is the first successful prosecution of this type<br />
in the <strong>Auckland</strong> area and resulted in a $2600 fine issued to a Karaoke Bar.<br />
A complaint was lodged with the Advertising Standards Authority regarding people<br />
under the age of 18 being associated with a product containing alcohol (through<br />
pictures on a Facebook site). The complaint was investigated and settled with the<br />
manufacturers. This has seen the material removed from the Company’s Facebook<br />
site.<br />
Oral submission on <strong>Auckland</strong> Council’s <strong>Auckland</strong> Plan on 29 November was well<br />
received by Council members.
