<strong>Vil<strong>la</strong></strong>, maravil<strong>la</strong><br />
<strong>David</strong> <strong>Vil<strong>la</strong></strong> (Tuil<strong>la</strong>, 1981) se ha<br />
ganado el sobrenombre de El Guaje, chiquillo en bable, porque<br />
siempre midió su fútbol con los mayores. Nacido y forjado en<br />
Asturias, <strong>Vil<strong>la</strong></strong>, que militó en el Valencia CF desde <strong>la</strong><br />
temporada de 2005 hasta este mismo año, es uno de los<br />
genios del fútbol español. Una lesión en el fémur de <strong>la</strong> pierna<br />
derecha extrajo su tenacidad y, bien por necesidad, bien por<br />
evitar desprenderse de ese amor a primera vista que sintió por<br />
el balón desde su más tierna infancia, potenció el trabajo con<br />
<strong>la</strong> izquierda y se convirtió en un futbolista ambidiestro. <strong>Vil<strong>la</strong></strong>,<br />
accionista del Valencia CF, asegura en una carta enviada<br />
semanas atrás a <strong>la</strong> afición que para él ha sido un gran orgullo<br />
vestir <strong>la</strong> camiseta valencianista y el brazalete de capitán. <strong>David</strong><br />
<strong>Vil<strong>la</strong></strong> dice sentirse tan valenciano como sus dos hijas y que<br />
llevará siempre Valencia y el club en su corazón. “Me marcho<br />
con <strong>la</strong> satisfacción de que el equipo vuelve a donde merece<br />
estar cada año, luchando entre los mejores de Europa en <strong>la</strong><br />
Champions League”.<br />
Footballer <strong>David</strong> <strong>Vil<strong>la</strong></strong> (born Tuil<strong>la</strong>, 1981) has earned himself<br />
the nickname of El Guaje – “The Kid” in Asturian dialect –<br />
having always p<strong>la</strong>yed the beautiful game among the big boys.<br />
Born and forged in the hard <strong>la</strong>nds of Asturias, <strong>Vil<strong>la</strong></strong> has been<br />
p<strong>la</strong>ying for Valencia C.F. since 2005 and is one of the greats of<br />
Spanish football. An injury to his right femur brought his<br />
tenacity to bear and, whether through necessity or to avoid<br />
having to forsake the love-at-first-sight he felt for the game<br />
from a tender age, <strong>Vil<strong>la</strong></strong> then worked his left leg, becoming an<br />
ambidextrous p<strong>la</strong>yer. <strong>Vil<strong>la</strong></strong>, a Valencia CF stockholder, stated in<br />
a letter to the fans a few weeks ago that it has been a great<br />
honour for him to don the Valencia shirt and the captain’s<br />
armband. <strong>David</strong> <strong>Vil<strong>la</strong></strong> says that he feels as Valencian as his two<br />
daughters and that Valencia and the club will always be close<br />
to his heart. “I leave with the satisfaction of knowing that the<br />
team is back where it deserves to be every year, competing<br />
among the best in Europe in the Champions League.”<br />
