This coffee maker allows both traditional drip-feed<br />
coffee as well as <strong>es</strong>pr<strong>es</strong>so or cappuccino coffee to<br />
be ma<strong>de</strong>. Follow the steps d<strong>es</strong>cribed below to<br />
operate the appliance correctly.<br />

• Before plugging the coffee maker into the mains,<br />
che<strong>ck</strong> that the voltage corr<strong>es</strong>ponds to that stated on<br />
the characteristics plate. The use of an electrical<br />
so<strong>ck</strong>et with an earth connection is recommen<strong>de</strong>d.<br />
• Always place the appliance on a flat, stable surface.<br />
Avoid moving the appliance while it is <strong>operating</strong>.<br />
• The glass jugs are d<strong>es</strong>igned for use with this coffee<br />
maker. They must not be used on cooker hobs or in<br />
micro-wave ovens. Never place the hot jugs on a cold<br />
or damp surface. Do not pour cold water into the<br />
jugs while they are still hot. Do not use the jugs if<br />
they are cra<strong>ck</strong>ed or if the handle com<strong>es</strong> loose.<br />
• Do not leave the appliance unatten<strong>de</strong>d, <strong>es</strong>pecially<br />
when children are about.<br />
Do not touch the hot surfac<strong>es</strong>. Use the handl<strong>es</strong> or<br />
buttons.<br />
• Never immerse the cable, plug or base unit in water<br />
or any other liquid.<br />
• Switch the coffee maker off and unplug it from the<br />
mains when it is not in use and before cleaning it.<br />
Leave it to cool down before putting it away or<br />
removing piec<strong>es</strong> and before cleaning the appliance.<br />
• Do not operate the coffee maker without water.<br />
• Before using the <strong>es</strong>pr<strong>es</strong>so coffee maker make sure<br />
that the water tank has been closed correctly. Do not<br />
try to open the cap on the tank while it is still un<strong>de</strong>r<br />
pr<strong>es</strong>sure.<br />
• The switch<strong>es</strong> should be in the OFF position both<br />
when plugging the appliance in as well as unplugging it.<br />
• Never unplug it by tugging on the mains cable nor<br />
leave the plug hanging freely.<br />
Keep the appliance and the cable away from hot<br />
surfac<strong>es</strong>.<br />
• Do not operate the appliance if either the cable or<br />
plug are damaged, or if it is not <strong>operating</strong> correcting.<br />
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electric sho<strong>ck</strong>s,<br />
do not remove any of the covers. There are no user<br />
serviceable parts insi<strong>de</strong> the appliance. Cable repairs<br />
and replacements must be carried out exclusively by<br />
an Authorised Technical Service Centre.<br />
• This appliance has been d<strong>es</strong>igned exclusively for<br />
dom<strong>es</strong>tic use.<br />
Before using it for the first time wash all of the<br />
acc<strong>es</strong>sori<strong>es</strong> and operate it once without any coffee.<br />
MAKING DRIP-FEED COFFEE (Fig. 2 - 6)<br />
1. Fill the water tank (6) with cold water. A quantity<br />
of l<strong>es</strong>s than two cups is not recommen<strong>de</strong>d.<br />
2. Fit the permanent filter (8) into the filter hol<strong>de</strong>r (7).<br />
Put in one measure of coffee for each cup of water.<br />
Note:<br />
• This coffee maker may be used with nº 4 type<br />
paper filters.<br />
• For correct operation, do not use too finely<br />
ground a coffee.<br />
Place the jug (2), with its lid fitted, onto the hot plate<br />
(1), plug the coffee maker into the mains and pr<strong>es</strong>s<br />
the “Coffee ” switch (3). The pilot lamp will<br />
come on, indicating that the coffee maker is<br />
<strong>operating</strong>.<br />
You may serve a cup of coffee before the brew cycle<br />
has finished. Upon removing the glass jug from the<br />
hot plate, the dripping will be temporarily <strong>de</strong>tained.<br />
Return the glass jug to the hot plate within 20 seconds.<br />
IMPORTANT NOTES<br />
• Read the <strong>instructions</strong> carefully. Safeguard them for<br />
future.<br />
MAKING ESPRESSO COFFEE (Fig. 8 - 13)<br />
1. Plug the appliance into the mains and che<strong>ck</strong> that<br />
the “Espr<strong>es</strong>so & Cappuccino” switch (10) is in the<br />
OFF position and that the steam regulator (12) is<br />
closed.<br />
2. Unscrew the lid on the tank (9) and pour in the<br />
d<strong>es</strong>ired amount of water. The jug (16) shows the<br />
amounts required for two or four cups. Screw the<br />
lid ba<strong>ck</strong> on and tighten it securely.<br />
3. Place the filter (15) into the filter hol<strong>de</strong>r (14). Use<br />
the filter’s two or four cup level marks to gauge the<br />
amount of coffee nee<strong>de</strong>d. Clean off any coffee that<br />
may be left around the edge of the filter hol<strong>de</strong>r.<br />
Important: To get the b<strong>es</strong>t r<strong>es</strong>ults, use a coarsely<br />
ground coffee, Italian <strong>es</strong>pr<strong>es</strong>so type. Do not pa<strong>ck</strong> the<br />
coffee down.<br />
Put the filter hol<strong>de</strong>r into position being gui<strong>de</strong>d by<br />
the<br />

marks and turn it to the right until<br />
you notice the stop. Place the jug (16) so that the<br />
opening lin<strong>es</strong> up with the coffee outlet. If you want<br />
the coffee to pour directly into the cups, insert the<br />
adapter (17).<br />
Turn the taste selector (11) to the d<strong>es</strong>ired position:<br />
