year.
The Museo de Arte de Ponce coordinated
the return of Lehon from Mont Parnasse by
Thomas Seddon. To this end, we traveled
to Madrid to verify the condition of the
painting and bring it back to the Museum.
The painting was on loan at the Fundación
La Caixa, the last venue of the exhibition
titled Pre-Raphaelite Vision: Truth to
Nature. This painting was previously
exhibited at the Tate Britain Museum in
London and at the Alte Nationalgalerie in
Berlin.
Isolda y la poción de amor by Frederick
Sandys and La huida de un hereje by John
Everett Millais were part of the exhibition
titled Artist as Narrator: Nineteenth
Century Narrative Art in England and
France.
Repartiendo rancho by Antonio de Puga
and Dos niños con calabazas by Pedro
Núñez Villavicencio were part of the
exhibition El mundo que vivió Cervantes,
organized by the Sociedad Estatal de
Conmemoraciones Culturales in Madrid
and whose inauguration was attended by
the King and Queen of Spain.
El Retrato de Martín Zapater by Francisco
de Goya y Lucientes was on loan at the
Museo Nacional de Arte. The project’s
objective was to bring together for the
first time in Mexico works by the artist that
were representative of his creative process
throughout his career. The exhibition’s
second venue will be the San Diego
Museum of Art.
San Francisco en meditación con el
hermano Leo by Theotokipoulos Domenikos
“el Greco” was shown at the Museo de
Arte Tlaxcala in Mexico and was the most
visited exhibition in the museum’s young
history. This work of art was loaned in
exchange for six Frida Kahlo works used in
the exhibition Frida Kahlo y sus mundos.
The shipments of the paintings were
carried out under the supervision of the
Museum’s specialized personnel (couriers),
which included the Museum’s conservators,
the Curator in Chief, and the Registrar,
who travel with the paintings to their final
destination. Furthermore, international
transport companies were subcontracted
to monitor the transportation of the works
of art so as to minimize the risks of
damage.
Exhibitions
Regarding the exhibitions at our facilities,
the curator Víctor Calafell traveled as
courier for the exhibition La memoria en el
papel: Libros y estampas de la colección
Franz Mayer for which we undertook the
coordination of the shipment, reports,
photographs of their condition, and the
obligatory registration of the 102 works
that were part of the exhibition.
