La cera que queda después de que la cría yla miel hayan sido extraídas de los panaleses fundida sobre agua, en una hoguera. Sepasa entonces a través de un filtro de bambúcayendo sobre agua donde se solidifica.Los trozos de cera se extraen del agua y semoldean en bloques del tamaño de un ladrillo.Éstos tienen un agujero en el centroque permite que la cera se enfríe más rápidamente.Un tronco de partido, apretadopor una cuerda sirve para prensar el filtro yconseguir el máximo aprovechamiento de lacera. La cera de abejas es una mercancíavaliosa. La composición química de la ceraproducida por Apis laboriosa le hace especialmenteadecuada para la fundición a lacera perdida. Para ello se hace un modeloen cera. Después se recubre con un materialcomo la arcilla. Cuando ésta se ha secado,se calienta, la cera se funde y sale fueradel molde.
