IN WELLNESS TOURISM<br />
The health tourism sector and the wellness services<br />
linked to it, is currently expanding all over the world<br />
and a bright future is a forecast. The consolidation and<br />
emergence of destinations in the health and wellness<br />
industry is a rising trend and, nowadays, it is possible<br />
to find emerging destinations in this touristic sector on<br />
all continents.<br />
The close relation between wellness tourism and natural<br />
resources has led countries that have mineral-medicinal<br />
waters, especially in Latin America, to take steps for the<br />
development and care of these resources. These start<br />
with the study and analysis of these waters, leading to<br />
the planning and design of wellness developments. In<br />
this framework, the training of professionals who will<br />
develop a certain destination, has become a basic pillar<br />
to guarantee a model of sustainable wellness tourism.<br />
This will ensure the protection of the water as the<br />
precious asset it is.<br />
Professional training in the wellness sector is one of the<br />
fundamental axes of Termatalia, the International Fair<br />
of Thermal Tourism, Health, and <strong>Wellness</strong>, which will<br />
take place in the thermal capital of Ourense (Galicia -<br />
<strong>Spa</strong>in) from September 18th-21st. Participation in this<br />
international event provides new tourist destinations with<br />
the necessary know-how to promote and develop their<br />
natural resources. European cities are utilised as points<br />
of reference, due to the urban, economic and social<br />
development that centers around thermalism and serves<br />
as an engine to attract foreign visitors.<br />
