Last month was packed<br />
with Hispanic Heritage<br />
Month celebrations, and<br />
<strong>November</strong> begins with<br />
multiple Day of the Dead<br />
events around time,<br />
something I had never seen<br />
before in the 20 years that I<br />
have been in New Orleans.<br />
Our city’s demographics<br />
have certainly changed and<br />
residents are embracing<br />
the cultural diversity along with the new traditions. Make sure to<br />
check out our calendar of events here and on vivanolamag.com for<br />
additions after our print date.<br />
Of course <strong>November</strong> also means Thanksgiving! I’m thankful<br />
because I am finally able to officially welcome a new team<br />
member! Marcella Escarfuller has been writing for us for a few<br />
months now and has even helped with editing and layout in past<br />
issues. She is very passionate about our work at <strong>VIVA</strong> <strong>NOLA</strong> and<br />
has committed to working with us on a regular basis, so I take this<br />
opportunity to welcome her to the <strong>VIVA</strong> <strong>NOLA</strong> Magazine team!<br />
Marcella is a native New Orleanian who grew up in a Dominican/<br />
Nicaraguan household. Marcella is multitalented. She is an artist<br />
who graduated from Tulane University for her bachelor’s degree<br />
in Studio Art and she means business as she holds a Master in<br />
Business Management from the A.B. Freeman School of Business.<br />
Marcella has previously worked for the Audubon Institute and<br />
Telemundo 42, and is now leading our marketing efforts and sales.<br />
I am looking forward to having her on board!<br />
