I also remember many subjects, and their respective

teachers, Dolors, Bea, Pedro; I think it is something

unique at UIC Barcelona, that the professors know

us well (for better or worse)! I used to be quite

unpunctual, and more than once I had to stay

outside the class because I had arrived five minutes

late, no matter how good my excuse was.

— What did you like the most?

The atmosphere and good vibes at the university,

and especially the close-knit group our graduating

class became. I remember that during exams, I

would go to the library to study because there

would always be a plan later in the day.

Off campus, we used to do a lot of things, and I

really miss that! We still maintain some traditions

like going skiing in the Alps every year, but we are

much more scattered now and sometimes it is

challenging.

— And what was the most difficult? What was

missing or what would you improve?

Entering the work world feeling quite young and

inexperienced. Going from enjoying my day-to-day

life with my friends in class or having a beer, to a

long and demanding workday. It’s true that I been

very lucky with the teams I have worked with and

the people who have helped me grow, but that

transition was somehow a reality shock for me.

— Tell us about your work experience.

Where did you start? Where are you

now and what do you do?

As part of the Business Administration education, I

completed an internship in the e-commerce

business development department at Bershka.

From there, I was offered a position in the

Marketplaces team. Being passionate about the

fashion industry, it was incredible to start my career

at a leading company in the field. After two years, I

had the opportunity to join McKinsey & Company

as a business analyst, where I work in strategic

consulting. Over the two plus years I have been at

McKinsey I have had the chance to explore several

different industries and rapidly learn a lot about

them. The constant challenge of learning about

unfamiliar topics (while working with exceptional

people) is probably what I enjoy most about my job.

— What advice would you give to students

who are starting their undergraduate studies?

First, to really enjoy the university years. It may

sound cliché, but for me, they were amazing, and I

would go back to my first year of university

tomorrow if I could - I had a great time.

Also, I would encourage them to be curious about

the career options available as they come to the

end of their studies. There are countless

opportunities and especially in fields as ADE.

I believe that speaking with senior students,

teachers or alumni can truly help them find a job

that makes them happy.

— Finally, what are your short- and mediumterm

career ambitions? What plans do you

have for your future?

If everything turns out as expected, the idea is to

return to McKinsey after completing my MBA;

where I would like to focus my work in consulting

for the fashion and luxury industry. In the

longer-term, I would love to pursue a PhD related

to organisational behaviour and the impact of

positive psychology on work and business. I would

love to then come back to the Uni to teach at some

point, but that remains to be seen!

As part of my professional development, McKinsey has given me the

opportunity to continue my training by pursuing an MBA. The truth is that

it is a unique opportunity and I feel tremendously fortunate to have it. I had

always planned to study an MBA, but honestly this opportunity goes way

beyond all my expectations.
