“It would have been impossible to beat Jin Jong Oh, today” this is
what his opponents have been repeating after every competition
since the 2008 Olympic Games of Beijing. The Korean Pistol phenomenon
has been winning all that was to be awarded, in the last
two years. The two-time Olympic medallist of Beijing, the best 2008
shooter as the international sport press voted him, closed the 2009
season in the best possible way, finishing on the highest step of the
podium once again. Or, better said, twice again.
After winning two Gold and one Silver medals throughout this
year’s ISSF World Cup Series, Jin ruled the World Cup Final in Wuxi,
shooting Gold both in the 50m Pistol Men and in the 10m Air Pistol
Men events. Still not happy with that, he kept on winning, securing
the prize awarded by SIUS Ascor at the traditional Champions Trophy
that closed the 2009 ISSF season. What is said by his opponents
seems to be true. So far, only Jin has been able to beat himself, recording
higher scores from match to match.
What is going to happen next year, when the first Olympic Quota
Places will be awarded?
