he Chinese team finished in first in the overall medal standings,
winning five Gold, two Silver and four Bronze medals.
The secret of the Chinese success lies in the women team.
Female shooters obtained the entire five Gold medals, winning the
Trap, Double Trap and Skeet individual and team Gold medals. India
followed in second place, obtaining four Gold, two Silver and
two Bronze medals, and finishing just one Gold medal away from
the top of the rankings. The Double Trap competitions were a great
success for India: three out of the four Gold medals were won in

hits event. Ronjan Sodhi, a World Cup multi-medallist, grabbed the
Double Trap individual Gold with a total of 187 hits (144+43), and led
the team to the highest step of the team podium. His younger teammate
San Dahiya finished in first place among the juniors, reaching
the first step of the podium with a total of 179 hits (135+44). Kuwait
closed the 2009 Asian Championship in third place, thanks to the
Gold medals won by Abdullah Alrashidi in the Trap Men event, and
to the Skeet team Gold shot by Khaled Almudhaf, Naser Meqlad and
Abdulrahman Al Faihan.
