Martin Haselböck mit Originalinstrumenten des 19. Jahrhunderts / with authentic 19th century instruments
Abbado, Lorin Maazel, Wolfgang Sawallisch,
Riccardo Muti and many others.
Several contemporary and important composers
such as Ernst Krenek, Alfred Schnittke, Cristóbal
Halffter and Gilbert Amy have written compositions
for, and dedicated them to, Martin Haselböck.
His discography, which consists of more than 50
recordings as organist, was honoured with the
German Schallplattenpreis, the Diapason d’Or and
the Hungarian Liszt Prize, and comprises among
others the much acclaimed latest recording of the
complete organ works of Franz Liszt.
Martin Haselböck’s intensive work with the
repertoire of classical church music in his capacity
as organist at the Hofburgkapelle occasioned him in
1985 to found an orchestra, the Wiener Akademie,
dedicated to reproducing original sound.
In addition to an annual concert cycle in the
Vienna Musikverein he and his orchestra are
regular guests and “resident artists” in concert
halls and opera productions throughout the
world. More than 60 recordings of music ranging
from works by Bach to compositions of the early
20 th century have been published by the Wiener
Akademie under his direction. Among the prizes
awarded the orchestra for its recordings are the
German Schallplattenpreis and the Diapason d’Or.
In 2010 the Wiener Akademie celebrated the 25th
anniversary of its foundation with a performance
in the Vienna Musikverein of Beethoven’s ninth
symphony.
Furthermore, Martin Haselböck is in great demand as
a guest conductor of leading orchestras worldwide
and to date has conducted in this capacity, the
Vienna Philharmonic, the Gewandhaus Orchester,
Leipzig, the Deutsche Symphonie Orchester Berlin,
the Dresden Philharmonic, the Orchestra Giuseppe
Verdi, Milan, the national philharmonic orchestras
of Spain, Hungary, The Czech Republic, Estonia,
Slovakia, and Slovenia, the Orchestre National
de Lyon, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and
many others. He directs an annual concert cycle
of Viennese classics with the Hamburg Symphony
Orchestra.
Further engagements have taken Martin
Haselböck to North America where he conducted,
among others, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the
Philadelphia Orchestra, the symphony orchestras
