5 a n n u a l r e p o r t 2 0 1 2 I N T R O D U C T I O N In the period 2009 – <strong>2012</strong> the Netherlands Institute for Animation film was obliged to fight for its continued existence. In spite of this we have endeavoured to pursue and implement as far as possible the planned policy as presented in 2008, and later in 2010 in our perspective matrix. We made optimal use of the still available subsidy opportunities and sources of financing and the collaborations that we had concluded. These were busy and especially exciting years. The prospect of the closure of the <strong>NIAf</strong> was a bitter blow in view of the appreciation of our activities, film awards at international festivals for the films by the artists-in-residence, the interest in the education projects, the successful exhibition and the international recognition. a n n u a l r e p o r t 2 0 1 2 57
