Max Porter (1981, United States) (juni 2011 - augustus 2012) During his final seven months at the NIAf Max Porter was able to completely re-evaluate his goals as an animation filmmaker. On the one hand, Ru and Max had wanted to experiment further with narrative possibilities. Living in a new country and being exposed to different cultures helped fuel a project that was beyond anything that they could possibly have imagined before they came to the Netherlands. While the development of their script was a lengthy, often circuitous process, it truly blossomed under the guidance of excellent guest critics and the support of the community at the NIAf. When they came to the NIAf, they had wanted to create a hybrid of computer animation and analogue techniques that built upon their previous work in general. With such a steep learning curve, having the time to learn new tools and techniques was an incredible privilege. Max left the NIAf in August with a completed proof-of-purpose test shot that laid a sound groundwork for the rest of the production. His time immersed in the supportive community at the NIAf led him to apply for teaching positions so that he could continue to participate in an educational arts community. In April, he was fortunate enough to be awarded a full-time teaching position at the Maryland Institute College of Art in the USA. His current success at the new organisation is in no small part due to the incredible growth that he experienced during his residency at the NIAf. www.tinyinventions.com Digna van der Put (1980, Nederland) (januari 2011 - december 2012) Begin dit jaar is de korte animatie film PARADE van Digna in productie gegaan. Muziek heeft een leidende rol in deze film en daarom is componist Alex Debicki in een vroeg stadium bij de productie betrokken. Met foley-geluiden van een uniform heeft Alex een ritmische muziektrack gemaakt.
