I N T R O D U C T I O N<br />
In the period 2009 – <strong>2012</strong> the Netherlands Institute for Animation<br />
film was obliged to fight for its continued existence. In spite of this<br />
we have endeavoured to pursue and implement as far as possible<br />
the planned policy as presented in 2008, and later in 2010 in our<br />
perspective matrix. We made optimal use of the still available subsidy<br />
opportunities and sources of financing and the collaborations that we<br />
had concluded. These were busy and especially exciting years.<br />
The prospect of the closure of the <strong>NIAf</strong> was a bitter blow in view of<br />
the appreciation of our activities, film awards at international festivals<br />
for the films by the artists-in-residence, the interest in the education<br />
projects, the successful exhibition and the international recognition.<br />
