Pintura de grande formato em guache sobre
pano com uma extraordinária figuração
chinesa do Juízo Final incorporando uma
moldura integral de flores e folhas sob fundo
vermelho. Este Juízo Final será
possivelmente derivado de uma gravura
europeia mas o artista chinês imbuiu a sua
representação de uma tal riqueza de
pormenores e de um tão grande fascínio pela
história que conta, que preencheu o espaço
pictórico com uma quantidade de pequenas
vinhetas que não andam muito longe do
fantástico. No céu a Santíssima Trindade
está envolta em nuvens de onde saem
cabeças de anjos. Está ladeada de filas bem
ordenadas de anjos, santos e de almas boas
que foram acolhidas no céu, de um lado
homens, do outro mulheres. Do lado
esquerdo, a meio da pintura, um anjo pesa as
almas com uma balança e acolhe
favoravelmente as almas puras representadas
por um ajuntamento de mulheres
branquíssimas desnudas, todas com os
característicos longos “rabos-de-cavalo”
chineses. No plano logo abaixo isto é
confirmado pela incarnação do Mal, um

A large gouache painting on cloth of an
extraordinary Chinese depiction of the Last
Judgment, incorporating a frame of flowers
and leaves painted against a red background.
This Last Judgement may be derived from a
European print, but the Chinese artist
infused such a level of detail and enthusiasm
into the story he depicted, that he filled the
pictorial space with a multitude of detailed
scenes which border on the fantastic. In the
sky the Holly Trinity is surrounded by clouds
with angel’s heads. It is flanked by neat rows
of angels, saints and pure souls welcomed
into paradise, women on one side, men on
the other. On the left of the middle section
of the painting an angel weights the souls
with a pair of scales welcoming the pure
white souls depicted as a compactly packed
crowd of very white naked women, all with
long black Chinese style “pony tails”. This is
