Pequena placa de terracota moldada
representando com considerável detalhe uma
figura feminina em pé, acompanhada de um
jovem oferecendo uma taça com frutos. A
sensual figura feminina veste uma túnica
com pregas, muito leve e transparente, com
um cinto e uma faixa envolvendo as ancas.
Tem um elaborado penteado, grandes
brincos cilíndricos e um conjunto de ricas
jóias, reflectindo o ideal de beleza feminina e
a moda da época, tal como representados em
outras esculturas em pedra e em terracota
Shunga.
Estas figuras femininas, frequentemente
representadas em placas de terracota deste
período podem ser descritas como damas da
corte trajando à moda da época Shunga.
Podem também ser interpretadas como
deusas-mãe, associadas à fertilidade,
sugestão reforçada pelas suas formas
exageradamente rotundas. Neste exemplar

A small moulded terracotta plaque depicting
with fine detail a standing female figure with
an infant attendant bearing a bowl with
fruits. The luscious female figure is dressed
in an ankle length extremely thin pleated
garment with a belt and girdle at the hips.
She is adorned with an elaborate headdress,
oversized cylindrical earrings and rich
jewellery, reflecting the idealized female
beauty and fashion of the period, as
depicted in other contemporary terracotta
and stone sculptures.
