Cabeça de uma divindade feminina difícil de
identificar por lhe faltarem os atributos que
as mãos possivelmente segurariam.
A escultura desta cabeça incorpora muitas
das características estilísticas associadas á
escultura do período Baphuon. O trabalho de
escultura é delicado e detalhado, o rosto
juvenil e cheio está tratado com algum
naturalismo o que não acontecia em
períodos precedentes e contrasta com a
monumentalidade hierática predominante no
século seguinte (período de Angkor Wat).
As sobrancelhas são ligeiramente arqueadas
e não unem, os olhos estão fechados (um

Head of a female deity, difficult to identify
as it lacks any attributes. The carving of the
head displays most of the stylistic
characteristics associated with the Baphuon
period.
The carving is sensitive and detailed and the
youthful full face is rendered with a degree
of naturalism absent in some earlier periods
and contrasting with the monumentality and
formalism to be found in the art of the
following century (Angkor Wat period).
The eyebrows are slightly arched and do not
unite, the eyes are closed (an unusual
feature), the nose is thin, but widens at the
nostrils. The mouth is sensual with full lips
that curve upwards into a slight smile. The
ears (now incomplete) would have been long
