Graciosa escultura em madeira com restos de
policromia representando um dos acólitos de
Guanyin, o Menino de Ouro. Apresenta-se
como um menino gordinho chinês, em pé,
numa postura que sugere uma ligeira torção
do corpo e com a cabeça vagamente virada
para a sua direita. Sendo um dos acólitos da
Guanyin está de mãos postas, em adoração à
deusa da compaixão, a sua mentora.
A cabeça está esculpida com feições cheias,
boca pequena e os olhos são de vidro
embutido. O penteado é em forma de
pequenas madeixas atadas por laços. Veste

A charming carved wood and plychromed
figure of one of Guanyin´s acolytes, the
Golden Boy. He is presented as a chubby
Chinese young boy standing in a slightly
swaying posture, his head with a delicate
motion to his right. As one of Guanyn’s
acolytes he is depicted with clasped hands, in
adoration of the goddess of mercy, his
mentor. The head is carved with plump facial
features, small mouth and chin and the eyes
are inset glass. The hair is arranged in small
locks tied with ribbons. He wears a light
multi-layered garment with sashes and
scarves and is barefooted.
Guanyin, the Chinese form of the Indian
Buddhist Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
becomes with time, in China, a female
divinity, the goddess of mercy. She is often
