<strong>Suzano</strong> and Japanese immigration<br />
On June 19, it will be 113 years since the Japanese immigration<br />
to Brazil, and currently, <strong>Suzano</strong> has the privilege of having about 16<br />
thousand Japanese descendants composing its population. Immigration<br />
brought <strong>Suzano</strong> political and economic contributions, in addition to<br />
providing new cultural aspects, thus contributing to <strong>Suzano</strong>’s identity.<br />
With about 30 ventures headed by Japanese or descendants, events<br />
that celebrate the Japanese people’s roots (such as the Cherry Blossom<br />
Festival and the Undokai Gymkhana). The 1908 immigration wave is<br />
an important factor in the cultural and economic development of the<br />
city, extending to the present day.<br />
