IDGM ranges from 0 to 1. The closer to 1, the better the
performance of the municipality.
The study is prepared by Macroplan consulting firm
specializing in future scenarios, strategic management,
and management geared to results. It evaluates services
such as Health, Education, Safety, and Sanitation in
the hundred largest cities Brazilian.
For Mayor Rodrigo Ashiuchi, the second consecutive
year’s highlight is the result of the work being built
in the municipality. “Since last year, we have noticed
this recognition about the progress that we proposed
to Suzano in 2017. Gradually we have reaped the
fruits of this dedication. Four years ago, the city
was another one, totally outdated and with pending
issues, which we gradually equalized to guarantee a
better future for everyone”.
Suzano has the 10th best
Basic Sanitation in Brazil,
indicates a study
Municipality advanced five positions
in the survey of Instituto Trata Brasil.
The city of Suzano is featured in the national survey
“Ranking of Sanitation 2021”, prepared by Instituto
Trata Brasil in partnership with GO Associados
consultancy. The study indicates that the city has the
10th best Basic Sanitation, considering the 100 largest
Brazilian cities. From 0 to 10, the grade given to the
service offered to citizens of Suzano is 8.65, according
to the parameters analyzed.
According to the survey, Suzano still has the best
sanitation in Alto Tietê and is the 6th best in the state,
only behind Santos, Franca, Limeira, Piracicaba,
São Paulo, and São José do Rio Preto. Compared
to the previous year, when it occupied 15th place
in the ranking, the city advanced five positions. In
2019, the municipality was in 22nd place.
The study is based on data from the 2019 base of
the National Sanitation Information System (SNIS),
considering the rates of access to water and sanitary
sewage (collection and treatment of sewage), total
population served with treated water and network
sewage, sewage treatment, the total loss rate of treated
water, average tariff and investments.
In this edition, according to the institute
responsible for the ranking, the study was consulted
by sector entities, authorities, operating companies,
and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to
improve the methodology applied. Altogether, more
than 20 entities were consulted in three months
of work. Among the participants in the survey
were technicians from the National Water Agency
(ANA), the Ministry of Regional Development, and
the Ministry of Health.
For Mayor Rodrigo Ashiuchi, the advance in this
area indicates that the city is growing and following
the right path. “We still have a lot to improve, but the
numbers show that the change is visible. And all this
is done with management and planning. At Suzano,
we are working to remove important projects from the
paper, and we are working together with the Basic
Sanitation Company of the State of São Paulo (Sabesp)
to carry them out. I appreciate the support of the State
government and all the people involved in this process,
from the partner deputies of the municipality to the
workers who work in the installation of water and
sewage networks in the city”, he said.
