LEISURE AND TOURISM
Rising Sun Square
It is impossible to go through the Colorado Garden
and not notice the Praça do Sol Nascente. The building
is home to two large sculptures: the Tsuru Bird, installed
in 2016, a symbol of health, good luck, happiness,
longevity, and fortune, by the artists Lúcio and Rodrigo
Bittencourt; and the monument of Japanese-Brazilian
artist Tomie Ohtake, inaugurated in 2008, in honor of
the hundred years of Japanese immigration to Brazil.
Another highlight is the bridge over the Ribeirão do
Una river and the bust of former mayor Pedro Miyahira,
designed in June 2018.
In addition to the works of art, which make the
square a great open-air museum, the place has a walking
trail to bring safety and practicality to citizens seeking
to practice physical activities.
City of Flowers Square
One of the biggest postcards in the city: the “Amo
Suzano” panel! The monument was installed in 2019,
when the square received a complete revitalization,
with requalification of water mirrors, afforestation,
improvements in lighting and maintenance. At the
site, you can still see the 11-meter-high sculpture
“Dama das Flores”, also by the plastic artists Lúcio
and Rodrigo Bittencourt.
The Cidade das Flores square was conceived 14
years ago in a space attached to the city hall. The
project, signed by architects Marcos Boldarini and
Márcia Halluli Menneh, came up with the idea of
Municipal Hall, linking the Three Powers in the
locality: Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary. She
also participated in the São Paulo Architecture
Biennale and was recognized and awarded at the
Venice Architecture Biennale - the largest in the
world.
There, free Wi-Fi is also available to visitors through
the “Conecta Suzano” network.
Religious Tour
Suzano has been home to the main Hare Krishna
temple in São Paulo since 2015. On Saturdays, a
festival takes place, where mantras are sung, lectures,
and offerings are held. The event is open to the public
and receives people from all over the country.
In the city there is also the Nambei Shingonshu
Buddhist Temple, which is one of the most important
Buddhist temples in America. Full of sculptures, the
temple was built by the monk Teizan with techniques
and materials from the East, assembled like a puzzle,
without using nails. The site features a three-meterhigh
statue of Buddha Fudoomyo, carved from a single
wooden trunk.
