no Brasil. Construímos a norma do zero. Demorou por
dois aspectos: começou do zero e segundo tivemos
uma pandemia onde a ABNT parou mais de 2 anos.
Perto de 85% do que tem na norma hoje é o que
tínhamos em 2019. De lá para cá houve algumas mudanças,
o que depende agora é da análise da ABNT.
Já houve consulta pública, fizemos análise de votos
e chegamos ao consenso sobre aquilo que se queria
fazer. Neste momento, podemos fazer mudança de
forma e não de técnica. Mandamos um novo texto,
depois dessa análise de votos para a ABNT, que neste
momento está fazendo análise para ver se não teve
mudança de técnica. Não tendo mudança técnica vai
para formatação e publicação. Se isso se confirmar,
que o texto não volta mais para comissão, acreditamos
que em 90 dias temos a norma publicada.
QUAIS AS VANTAGENS DO SISTEMA CONS-
TRUTIVO WOOD FRAME?
Diria que primeiro é a qualidade de construção.
Conseguimos fazer isso dentro da fábrica onde tudo
é medido milimetricamente. Temos condições de entregar
algo com absoluta qualidade. Em função de ser
industrializado temos uma produtividade muito maior.
Uma casa em wood frame é feita em aproximadamente
um terço de tempo de qualquer outro processo
construtivo conhecido. Tem tanta resistência e durabilidade
quanto qualquer outro método construtivo.
Apesar de ser madeira e muita gente achar que a
madeira pode criar insetos, pode ter umidade, pode
pegar fogo. O processo construtivo é industrializado e
evita totalmente esses problemas. Temos garantia que
uma casa em wood frame vai ficar 30, 40 anos sem
problema nenhum. Evidentemente, com tudo isso tem
uma sustentabilidade, não tem desperdício. Tudo é
feito dentro de fábrica e aquilo que não é usado eventualmente
volta para o processo produtivo. E é sustentável
porque a madeira é de reflorestamento, não
é madeira nativa. A manutenção é muito mais simples
e uma questão interessante, estamos garantindo que
uma casa em wood frame em local de muito calor tenha
conforto térmico e um lugar frio também o tenha.
Não precisa colocar ar condicionado, ou ventilador.
Essa é uma das inúmeras vantagens.
QUAIS AS DIFICULDADES PARA SE INICIAR
O USO DO NOVO SISTEMA CONSTRUTIVO NO
BRASIL?
É uma questão cultural. Não temos essa cultura de
execução de casas, edificações em madeira ou com
madeira. A população que pode ter uma edificação,
na maioria das vezes, opta por uma edificação em
alvenaria, tradicionalmente é assim. Esta é a maior
dificuldade, a cultura de não aceitar, nesse primeiro
instante. De resto, não tem porque não ter uma casa
em wood frame.
Commission. We translated international standards,
mainly those based on European experience, in the
case of Germany. We made technical visits, several of
them with forest product producer personnel, builders,
and stakeholders as a whole so that the development
of the system was more geared to reality. This gave us
a clear foundation guiding everything we wrote so that
this standard had the credibility we intended. We have
been able to work on this standard, and it is consistent
with everything we have done.
WHAT IS MISSING FOR THIS SYSTEM TO BE
REGULATED IN BRAZIL?
The standard needs consensus. We have had this
conversation since 2016, seeking consensus because
we are writing the standard line-by-line. Today, the
standard is 65 pages long, a new thing in Brazil. We
built the standard from scratch. It took time for two
reasons: first, we started from scratch, and second,
we had a pandemic where Abnt shut down for more
than two years. Close to 85% of what is in the standard
today is what we had in 2019. Since then, there have
been some changes; what depends now is the analysis
by Abnt. There has already been a public consultation,
we have analyzed votes and reached a consensus on
what we wanted to do. Right now, we can make a change
in form and not a change in technique. We sent a
new text after this analysis of votes to Abnt, which is
currently carrying out an analysis to see if there was no
change in technique. Having no technical change, it
goes to formatting and publishing. If this is confirmed,
the text no longer goes back to the commission, and
we believe that in 90 days, we will have the standard
published.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THE WOOD-
-FRAME CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM?
I would say the first is the quality of construction.
We could do this inside the factory, where everything
is measured millimetrically. We can deliver something
with absolute quality. Due to being industrialized, we
have much higher productivity. A wood-frame house
is made in approximately one-third of the time of
any other known construction process. Also, it has as
much strength and durability as any other construction
method. Being wood, many people think it can create
insect infestations, have moisture, and catch fire. The
construction process is industrialized and totally avoids
these problems. We guarantee that a house built using
the wood-frame system will stay standing for 30, 40 years
without any problem. Of course, with all this, there
is sustainability and no waste. Everything is done inside
the factory, and what is not used eventually returns to
the production process. And it is sustainable because
the wood is from reforestation. It is not native wood.
