evidentemente precisamos de profissionais para o desenvolvimento<br />

com bons olhos, porque o profissional será melhor<br />

qualificado. E quando temos profissionais mais qualificados,<br />

A Suécia e vários outros países do mundo como<br />

Áustria, Alemanha, França, EUA (Estados Unidos<br />

da América) e Canadá, já há algum tempo, vêm desenvolvendo<br />

obras altas, arranha-céus com madeira<br />

engenheirada, que é diferente do wood frame. É uma<br />

madeira especial que permite que grandes estruturas<br />

sejam feitas em madeira abandonando totalmente o<br />

aço, ferro, cimento, concreto. É uma quebra de paradigma<br />

que com certeza vai acontecer no Brasil, talvez<br />

um pouco mais demorado, mas a experiência nos diz<br />

que isso vai acontecer. Basta que a gente tenha realmente<br />

esse conhecimento, que a academia entenda e<br />

comece a colocar isso na grade curricular dos nossos<br />

cursos, que os empresários entendam que isso é um<br />

fator importante. E então a população vai entender<br />

que é mais um sistema construtivo que vai crescer e<br />

acontecer no Brasil.<br />

I have a deficit of 6 million, I cannot reduce the deficit.<br />

So, there is a place for everybody. The traditional<br />

builder does not have to worry about wood-frame, and<br />

those who will work with wood-frame have a sea of<br />

opportunities because the housing deficit is there. This<br />

is the reason that encourages us to make this industrialized<br />

and sustainable construction process happen<br />

immediately in our Country.<br />

DO ENGINEERING COURSES OFFER THE NE-<br />

CESSARY CONTENT FOR BUILDING CONSTRUC-<br />

TION USING WOOD?<br />

I have been talking to several universities encouraging<br />

engineering, architecture, and electrical and<br />

hydraulic courses about considering the wood-frame<br />

system as a career option. Universities are not prepared<br />

for that. Our professional is not yet prepared to develop<br />

the wood-frame construction system correctly. It<br />

needs to be placed in the regular 4 to 5-year curriculum<br />

or offer parallel courses to qualify those interested professionals.<br />

In time this will happen.<br />

GINEERING AND AGRONOMY OF PARANÁ (CRE-<br />

A-PR) SEE THE FUTURE OF ENGINEERING WITH<br />

THE POSSIBILITY OF A NEW CONSTRUCTION SYS-<br />

TEM WITH WOOD?<br />

The Crea Confeas System is an excellent stimulator<br />

for new technologies. In the case of wood-frame, of<br />

course, we need professionals to develop this process.<br />

Where there is a job, you have to have a professional<br />

from the areas encompassing Crea: all engineering, all<br />

geosciences, and we see this being good because the<br />

professional will be better qualified. And when we have<br />

more skilled professionals, it is society that wins.<br />

RECENTLY WE HAVE SEEN EXAMPLES OF<br />

WOOD BUILDINGS IN SWEDEN, WHICH ARE<br />

VALUED. IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT IS MISSING<br />

IN BRAZIL SO THAT THE CONSTRUCTIONS WITH<br />

WOOD ARE MORE VALUED?<br />

Sweden and several other countries in the world,<br />

such as Austria, Germany, France, the USA, and Canada,<br />

for some time now, have been developing tall<br />

buildings, skyscrapers with engineered wood, which<br />

is different from wood-frame. It is a special wood that<br />

allows large structures to be made of wood totally<br />

abandoning steel, iron, cement, and concrete. A paradigm<br />

shift will undoubtedly happen in Brazil, perhaps<br />

a little slower, but experience tells us it will happen. It<br />

is enough that we have this knowledge, that the academic<br />

world understands this and begins to put this in<br />

the curriculum of our courses, and that entrepreneurs<br />

understand that this is an essential factor. And then,<br />

the population will realize that it is another constructive<br />

system that will grow and happen in Brazil.<br />
