“Multidisipliner yaklaşımla tedavi sunuluyor”
Doç. Dr. Melih Topcuoğlu, Girişimsel Radyoloji’nin
kanser tedavisinde de kullanıldığını belirterek, “Kanserli
dokuların tanı ve tedavisinde görüntüleme kılavuzundaki
ameliyatsız yöntemlerle, öncelikle hastalıkların tanısını
koyup daha sonrasında onkoloji bölümüyle multidisipliner
bir çalışmayla hastanın kliniğine uygun, kemoembolizasyon,
radyoembolizasyon ya da ablasyon dediğimiz yöntemlerle
tedavilerine katkı sağlamaktayız” diye konuştu.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Melih Topcuoğlu stated that Interventional
Radiology is also used in cancer treatment and said, “In

the imaging guide, and then, through a multidisciplinary
study with the oncology department, we contribute
to the treatment of the patient with the methods we
call chemoembolization, radioembolization or ablation,
appropriate to the patient’s clinic.”

patients who cannot be operated on.”
“Another advantage provided by Interventional Radiology
is the solutions it offers to patients with medical conditions
who cannot undergo surgery or who are not suitable for
general anesthesia,” said Assoc. Dr. Topçuğoğlu continued
his words as follows: “In patients where surgery or general
anesthesia is not suitable due to the presence of severe
heart disease, uncontrolled diabetes, chronic kidney disease
and multiple chronic diseases, the treatment options
offered by Interventional Radiology include alternative
methods without the need for local anesthesia and surgery,
thus saving lives in these cases.”

“Girişimsel Radyoloji’nin sağladığı bir diğer avantaj ise
ameliyat olamayacak tıbbi durumdaki hastalara veya
genel anestezi için uygun olmayan hastalara sunduğu
çözümlerdir” diyen Doç. Dr. Topçuğoğlu sözlerini şöyle
sürdürdü: “Ağır kalp hastalığı, kontrolsüz diyabet, kronik
böbrek hastalığı ve çoklu kronik hastalık varlığı nedeni
ile cerrahinin veya genel anestezinin uygun olmadığı
hastalarda Girişimsel Radyoloji’nin sunduğu tedavi
opsiyonları lokal anestezi ve ameliyata gerek kalmadan
alternatif yöntemler içerdiğinden bu durumlarda hayat
kurtarıcı hale gelmektedir.
“Ülkemiz hem bilimsel hem tedavi anlamında çok
gelişmiş durumda”
Türkiye’nin Girişimsel Radyoloji alanında hem bilimsel
araştırma hem de tedavi imkanları açısından çok önemli
bir noktada olduğunun altını çizen Yeditepe Üniversitesi
Koşuyolu Hastanesi Girişimsel Radyoloji Uzmanı Doç.
Dr. Melih Topcuoğlu, “Önceden yurt dışına bu alanda
eğitim almak için giden meslektaşlarımız olurdu. Şu anda
özellikle büyük şehirlerdeki üniversitelerimiz yurt dışından
gelecek hekimlere eğitim verebilecek durumdadır. Yeditepe
Üniversitesi Hastaneleri Girişimsel Radyoloji Ünitesinin
Avrupa çapında bir eğitim merkezi olarak seçilmesi de bu
anlamda önemli bir gösterge oldu.” dedi.

and in terms of treatment.”
Underlining that Türkiye is at a very important point
in terms of both scientific research and treatment
opportunities in the field of Interventional Radiology,
Yeditepe University Koşuyolu Hospital Interventional
Radiology Specialist Assoc. Dr. Melih Topcuoğlu said,
“Previously, we had colleagues who went abroad to receive
training in this field. Currently, our universities, especially in
big cities, are in a position to provide training to physicians
coming from abroad. The selection of Yeditepe University
Hospitals Interventional Radiology Unit as a European
training center was an important indicator in this sense.”
