Alaca 3 was exhibited in Mardin
The works of the teachers and students of Mimar
Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Traditional
Turkish Arts, Carpet-Kilim and Traditional Fabric
Patterns Department were exhibited at Mardin,
15-25 March 2024.
International Design Foundation Meydan Art Gallery
hosted the 3rd exhibition of Alaca Weaving Group
between March 15-25. The exhibition, consisting
of the works of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University,
Department of Traditional Turkish Arts, Department
of Carpet-Rug and Traditional Fabric Patterns,
consisted of 31 works by 29 participants.
and expressed through weaving. The exhibition,
which emerged with the efforts of students who
want to continue their weaving adventures, consists
of the participation of 27 students and 2 teachers.
“THREAD AND COLOR”, the common language
of the group exhibition, contains indispensable
truths for all artists. Weavings appear as a way
of expressing the realities that the authors try
to weave, what they cannot analyze or what they
imagine.
With weaving as the main point of the exhibition,
the students studying at MSGSU, Department of
Traditional Turkish Arts, Carpet-Rug and Traditional
Fabric Patterns Department realized their 3rd
group exhibition together with their teachers. In this
exhibition, weavers presented traditional weaving
techniques as well as contemporary approaches.
The artists transformed the concept of color, one of
the basic elements of art, into textural surfaces with
yarns and created different surface evaluations.

stories of Mardin were transformed into designs
